Not all military service is equal. Plus there is the fact that someone is here illegally means that they should not be able to walk into a government office without getting arrested.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Once they complete their service they should be deported back to Mexico.

I once welcomed them. What you should be wondering about is why my heart has become irreparably hardened to them.

Why? Why should we make it easier on them? Don't they have education in Mexico or China or where ever thier parents came from? If they want to become american citizens then they should do it the way everyone else that comes here legally does it.

Seriously, the the only ones in America that have things handed to them on a silver platter are those that are rich. Everyone else has to work for what they get. Why should anchor babies and illegals be given special treatment?

Berlin Wall comes to my mind.

Land mines would close the border. Think of the Korean DMZ. It works.

Re: "Dream Act" immigration bill blocked in Senate

I'm glad this thing failed and I hope everything similar to it in any way, shape or form, fails in the near future.

Actually, I hope everything and anything that gives any benefit of any kind to any illegal fails.

I hope they fail, and continue to fail, until such a point that laws are passed and actuall ENFORCED for a reasonable amount of time that significantly improve border security, employer enforcement, and deportation/rounding up of illegals in this country.

If the government shows it will SERIOUSLY deal with the law enforcement and protective sides of these things then we can perhaps talk. If they show they will not just give it lip service but actually show sustained and tangiable efforts then we can perhaps talk. If they can do this and do this for at least 6 months to a year then you know what? I'd be happy to talk about giving benefits to children who were brought over, or a path to citizenship, or even perhaps TALK about some kind of amnesty.

But until such a time as the above happens, I hope every single solitary one of these type of things fail and fail hard. You do not "fix" this problem by rewarding it time and time again while giving lip service to any form of punishment or enforcement.

And that goes double for any bill trying to push benefit type things along by trying to say its "compromising" by giving security or enforcement. That is an age old trick, its what helped cause amnesty the last time, and we shouldn't fall for it again. Enforcement takes time, and effort, to happen. Security takes time, and effort, to happen. Don't fund it, have the executive not persue it strongly, and its effecitvely worthless. Where as things like amnesty or acceptance to colleges, etc can happen immedietely and need little extra help. Which means one end happens while the other part never comes to be.

I'm glad its blocked. I hope all others of it continue to be blocked. Until the Government starts doing its damn job they all need to be blocked.

If I believed the American left was capable of acting in good faith there are many things that could be discussed. But they are incapable of good faith. Consequently, they will be resisted everywhere on every issue at all times.

Can you prove that? If so, now is the time to do so.

“If East Germany could, we could.” — Alaska Republican Senate nominee Joe Miller

Only the Soviet Union and North Korea imposed the death penalty for trespassing.

The opinions suggesting planting land mines and executing illegal immigrants are appropriate courses of action in securing our borders, are monstrous in my eyes. National leaders who offer such policy prescriptions are not serious people in my opinion.
“Real environmentalists live in cities, and they visit what's left of the wilderness as gently and respectfully as possible.” — Donna Moulton, letter to the editor, Tucson Weekly, published on August 23, 2001
