What do you think the long term economic prospects are for the majority of people graduating from college next year?

    Doom?

That's why we need the DREAM act! It's time to recognize that this nation is better off when it offers green cards to successful children of illegal immigrants. For those who don't know, green cards are not citizenship, just the first step toward citizenship. They'll need to stay "clean" for five more years to earn that standing. This is essential national legislation in preventing a permanent underclass from forming in this nation.

Somebody did. Because lots of economic opportunities were stolen from your generation to feed past consumption.

How are you going to persuade Republicans to support the Dream Act? The new people coming into Congress aren't friendly to illegal aliens.

Are you sure about that? After wall it was a republican president that signed the "Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986" AKA Reagan Amnesty. It was the last republican president that tried to push for amnesty. And the last republican presidential candidate that tried to push for amnesty and tried to toss illegal alien salad more than Obama did.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

You do realize that illegal immigration is NOT the sole cause of lost economic opportunities right?

Foreseeable consequences...diminished standard of living, racial violence, further Mexican colonization...
Racial violence happens already everyone just ignores it. Mexican colonization is nothing but some stupid fear in the minds of Pat Buchanan and his followers. As I said above, illegal immigration isnt the sole reason for the diminishing of living standards.

The Reagan Amnesty failed. It was heralded as a one time means of taking care of the illegal immigration problem. Instead, it only ended up bringing countless additional millions into America.

The experience of that failure makes it impossible for conservatives who care about the borders to support any additional amnesties.

There will only be amnesty over my dead body. Let's make a spectacle of it. Self-immolation on the steps of the Capitol. Haha.

I am well aware of contributory causation. This isn't a global discussion of causation. It's about illegal immigration.

Illegal immigration has changed my life. For me it is not an abstract problem. It's in my face every day.

What do you say? So too bad for me? Well, then too bad for everybody. Let's sow dragon's teeth.
