It shouldn't be a victory for anybody, left or right. It should be a gay victory... if it (DODT) were actually worth the trouble of repealing.

That's a little whiney. If you really supported it, it shouldn't matter what side considers it a triumph.

The eight Rep votes were… Collins, Snowe, Brown, Murkowski, Voinovich, Kirk, Ensign and Burr.
The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

Actually, it should be treated as a victory for all Americans. The smart move for lgbt folks is to love their opponents to death. Kill them with kindness. Completely disarm them.

I don't feel victorious over anything. Then again, I never considered myself much of an American.

I have betrayed my coalition mates to support full civil rights for lgbt people. Having stuck my neck out I will have no nonsense about whining.

Moderate conservatives. How I love thee.

I bet those 8 people are going to be really busy the next 2 years. If anything is going to pass it is going to need the support of at least half of them.

Don't get me started on the decline of the American character.

I'm just saying. If there was something I really cared about, I wouldn't care which party passed it.

Oh come on. This may be the best time in history to be a moderate conservative.
