Excerpted from “Senate Dem leader drops nearly $1.3T spending bill” By ANDREW TAYLOR, The Associated Press, The Washington Post, Thursday, December 16, 2010; 8:26 PM
Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., gave up on the bill after several Republicans who had been thinking of voting for it pulled back their support.

GOP leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky threw his weight against the bill in recent days, saying it was "unbelievable" that Democrats would try to muscle through in the days before Christmas legislation that usually takes months to debate. …

Now, this is a victory for the anti-porkers.

I find it entirely normal for the Democrats to try something like that. Typical.

as big a development as obama's surrender on tax cuts for the rich

boehner initiates spendings from now on

If this was a Republican spending bill the conservatives would have cheered it on and the Democrats would have tried to stop it. Same ****.... different day. Except the Republican spending bill would have been larger.

Its 1.1 trillion as requested by the Republican leadership.

Wrong as usual Petey Baby - the Republicans were "held hostage" in their desire to originally extend the present tax rates and not allow the Dems to RAISE taxes on anyone! Then Obama and his cronies had to ad 13 months of unemployment payments... then came the earmarks (90 plus percent of which were driven by Dems)! While I do not support the Republicans agreeing with Obama recently, I support their change of heart when the pigs starting feeding at the trough!

Except that the Dems would not oppose any giveaway program for their hard core supporters residing on the Democrat "plantation"... i.e. Medicare Part D! I don't support when Bush and company passed that legislation with overwhelming Dem support - but it was one of the legislative acts during Bush's presidency that contributed mightily to the debt!

And now Reid wants to force votes on the Dream Act, DADT, and the Start Treaty right before a huge portion of his party is ousted.

Is there any shame?

Meanwhile, Reid's state's unemployment just jumped to 14.3 percent.

Well, at least he has his priorities straight... right?

msnbc last nite described this exchange between maverick mccain and our newest senator mark kirk (sitting in obama's seat) as GLOATING:

RealClearPolitics - Video - Sen. Kirk On Reid Conceding Omnibus Bill: "Did We Just Win?"

congrats, knuckle draggers, yesterday was the best day for the opposition (so far) of the 2 year obama presidency

the big winner---tea

the omnibus, you need to know, contained 1 billion dollars for "implementation" of obamacare

now, boehner will implement

party on, progressives
