Greek police clash with anti-austerity protesters

HAHHAHHAHAHHA.. talk about be deluded.. European conservatives are like all other conservatives world wide EXCEPT the American variant. And no the world does not revolve around the US and how it defines political parties or classes.

Don't care what the world does. We only care about America. You must care about America too. Otherwise you wouldn't be here.

Seriously what plant do you live on? Class distinctions are first off not European but based in human history going back to the time we were apes.

I was defining class distinctions as we know them, not based on what apes did or some lost tribes of New Guinea. There is no doubt status in wealth but in Europe that long ago evolved into who you were born too, with that not being the case in the New World. Here there is more emphasis placed on individual achievement rather than how closely you might be related to the Royal Families.
Secondly, class distinction was far more important in China and India (even today) and other places outside Europe, than it in many ways was in Europe, especially the last 200 years.

And when the subject is India or China then you might want to give that a mention. But as you can see by the heading of the thread, such is not yet the case.
Thirdly, the US is just as "class divided" if not more than most European nations today.

Nonsense.
And like it or not, people do act and treat you differently depending on if you are a bum on the street or in the same tax bracket as Bill Gates.

Quite right. In fact they will treat you differently if you are middle class rather than a bum on the street.

And the whole "class" distinction is a by product of 5000 years of conservative rule.

And how do you define "conservative"? Balanced budgets?
Landowners and serfs, rich and poor, man and woman.. black and white.. all relates to the basic nature of humanity that was cultured for 5000 years by kings and queens and warlords and other rich people over a poor population.

Right. Now we're back in Europe again.
Even when these masses started to rise up and demand equal rights, the ruling class banded together in the "conservative movement" to maintain the status quo as much as possible.

And the Magna Carta of 1215 served as a catalyst for this change, and that same Great Charter served as inspiration for the laws and rights in the New World.

They used the existing government apparatus which they were in control of to hit down on "new" parties and political ideas like socialism.

You feel Europe doesn't have enough Socialism as it is? What more would you want socialized? Where is the ideal Socialist country? Does it exist?

Only after the fall of the Russian Zar, did conservative movements across the world realize, that they better start listening to the people or face a similar consequence.

So you feel that human rights only blossomed after the fall of the Russian Czar? And continued until when? 1989?
But like it or not, class distinction still exists today everywhere in one way or another and US is no better (if not worse)...

The United States is much, much better than most countries, as is New Zealand, Canada and Australia.

European conservatives aren't conservative by American standards. They're weaklings who play on the field marked out by the Euro Left.

Euro Cons arent weaklings, a weakling doesnt fight a weakling only runs. Euro-cons are in reality two bit punks, they only fight when they have the advantage and even then when their target steps up to them they cowar like ******s.

And "their target", I assume, are those who want their money. Is that correct?

Dont worry.. American's dont have the balls to demonstrate against the government.

Funny how you didn't say that when bashing the Tea Party.

Since when have you cowards actually done any fiscal responsibilty in your hell holes??? The answer is NONE! Euro-cons are just as pathetic as the Euro-left, I hope your nations go into complete chaos.

Nothing frightens the Left more than the threat of a balanced budget.

Really

Being a Canadian which government had a balanced budget and which one took us from a balanced budget to a deficit? Which government in the US took what was very close to a balanced budget to what was the largest deficits the US had known untill the current ones. Which governments in Europe have had balanced budgets, and which ones do not (ie not the right leaning ones

It is not the left that fears balanced budgets, but politicians who pander for votes

Calling yourseelf a Conservative when running for office, or joining a Conservative political party, does not necessarily make someone a Conservative.Making Conservative promises during a political campaign, as per BHO, does not make one a Conservative. You have to actually walk the walk.

It is the Tea Party in the States who is arguing for fiscal conservatism and it is largely the Left who is in opposition.

And in Europe it is the Right who s attempting to bring down the cost of government and the Left who is protesting, and rioting, against it.

The Reform party ran on a policy of fiscal conservatism, yet when one of its members took over fiscal conservatism went out the window.

In Europe the Scandinavian countries are all fairly left in nature and most have had balanced budgets in the last decade.

The Tea party claims it wants fiscal conservatism, and being in oppostion to Obama it just might actually push for it. But its elected officials will abandon it just as soon as reelection times come and "campaign" donations are needed

Sure. As I said, politicians can call themselves anything, make any promises, but then, when in power, they may behave quite differently.

If the Scandinavian countries can call themselves Socialist and still balance budgets, and behave responsibly for the future, then I say good for them. But the exception does not make the rule.

The Tea party claims it wants fiscal conservatism, and being in oppostion to Obama it just might actually push for it. But its elected officials will abandon it just as soon as reelection times come and "campaign" donations are needed.

They do more than "claim" they want fiscal conservatism, that it is their singular platform. We don't know yet how the candidates they supported will behave after they're in office. Likely there will be some who keep their promises to be fiscally responsible and others who won't. That seems to be the way it goes.
