9. I accrued 9 days per contact year. after the first 9 months I had 9 paid days, that is almost two weeks since they don't charge you for weekends. another year and I would've had 18 days, fully enough to take the 3 weeks off, if I had saved up my days.

Why was it so important to her to take it in 2008 instead of, like this poster is saying, actually earn the time?

First, I'm not a lady. I'm a man. Second, yes I'm a vegan. Love Boca Burgers and Morningstar bacon, sausage patties and links (all veggie - soy protein). I guess I was having so much fun stomping on your message about killing animals, I forgot to mention it.

Though it might not fit into the "religion" of Islam (or imperialist ideology masquerading as a religion), life after death is something we all think about at times, and none of us really knows what's going to happen afterwards. Maybe those who say "I don't care about animals I plan to eat" and "Damn animal rights people are annoying", will find themselves cornered by a 1600 pound Alaskan Kodiak bear, who, looking you straight in the eye, in perfect English says "I don't care about animals I plan to eat...including humans".

That's not quite right. The majority of Christian holidays occur on pagan holidays. That's why Christmas is where it's at, and Easter is where it's at (it's also the reason why there's an Easter Bunny, do you know why there is an Easter bunny?). The plain and short of it was that in order to encourage others to switch to Christianity, they kept the holidays and celebrations the same.

if you are going to compare Islam to Christianity, I am sure that on the surface you can find many similarities in the religion itself. Problem is when you realize that Islam is stuck in the 7th century, while Christianity has progressed.

I don't think that Christianity tells its followers to kill those that don't believe in Christ do they?

I'm all well and good with you sacrificing no meat in your life and loving animals and all that jazz that comes with being Vegan but I'm most certainly not going to give it up nor would I condemn a bear for acting in its nature. :roll:

Nor do I care what you care, as long as you don't come around here trying to impose your very strange and very offensive Muslim beliefs on us here (I trust you won't). If the Brits want to cave in to all that Muslim Islamization, all I can say is "Not my problem". My animal friends here (ex. stray cats) will be safe, and heaven help anyone who tries to harm them. I still can't help thinking though, about that goat (or whatever it is) sticking his sharp bayonet-long horns in your butt. LOL. Hey, where are those smilies when I need them ?

Funny how they don't make beef burgers, pork bacon, and pork sausages that vet dressed up to taste like broccolli, carrots and soy.

IMO, if someone decides to be a self-righteous prick of a vegan, they should at least have the balls to do it without pining away for meat-like flavors. To me, eating morningstar **** and boca burgers just smacks of cowardice.

The killing of an animal in this way is in no way more horrible an act then what cows go through to get to a slaugher house. Certainly no more horrible then the many hunters in north america killing dear, elk or moose

Indeed. I do not understand the squeamishness from some of my friends who admittedly have not been around animals as much as I.
I have no problem with killing and butchering a animal to eat its meat. I happen to think I have more ground to be a meat eater than those who only get their meat from the store and have never had any contact with what they eat :shrug:

But otherwise I'd love to go hunting one day and I shall in Kenya when I return home :mrgreen:

One thing I've never understood about butchering animals (admittedly I've not done much of it) is why the use of a slit at the throat? A sharp blow to the neck from an axe would serve the same purpose. Granted the neck is a difficult target on a kicking animal, but with help it could be done.

Yeah....do that on hogs and come back. My grandma had hogs on the farm she raised for food. First off, when they're young you have to catrate them; and they don't take too kindly. When they're older, you have to kill one and clean and butchar it. Pigs are onry creatures, let me tell you. But man is bacon worth it!

Slitting the throat is the way the uncivilized, barbaric savages who call themselves Muslims, go about slaughtering animals to be used for food. It's called "halal" meat. In Arabic, "halal" means that which is lawful or permissable. So in Islam, meats should be halal, however there is a lot of criticism of the Muslim practice (what else is new ?), because of the excessive pain and suffering it inflicts on the animals.

In 2003, the Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC), an independent advisory group, concluded that the way halal and kosher meat is produced, causes severe suffering to animals, and should be banned immediately. FAWC argued that cattle required up to two minutes to bleed to death when such means are employed. The Chairperson of FAWC at the time, Judy MacArthur Clark, added, "this is a major incision into the animal and to say that it doesn't suffer is quite ridiculous."

McDonald's is one of the restaurants offering halal food. They received numerous complaints about it. They're response was - go somewhere where halal food is not offered. My response to McDonald's is > Yes, we will do exactly that.

Much easier to control the body to then kill it when you have it around the neck by yourself. You would need more than one person otherwise, I can't really explain what position I'd be in when I am slitting the throat but I won't get kicked by it and it drains the blood quite quickly. :shrug:
Farm animals are not that big a deal, non farm animals are harder to kill (for obvious reasons)
