    it is not stupid.

they changed other major parts of the ritual, ie you can now pay/designate someone to make the animal sacrifice on your behalf, you no longer have to kiss the black stone as you make the circle, you only have to point at it.

if, for the sake of accomodating the ever growing numbers of participants, you can change these major parts of the ritual... why, for the sake of accomodating the ever growing number of participants that must travel much greater distances, allow them to perform the ritual at some othe date?

because I say so, is the fools answer to the why question.

Maybe they should, but it until they do then asking people to act like its been changed is ridiculous. You aren't seriously suggesting that this women shouldn't be allowed to go because her religion, as well as the Saudi government, doesnt like her timeline? She has no power to change that whatsoever.

I was seriously suggesting that instead of asking for unpaid leave, she save up her personal days for a year or two and then apply for paid leave. then if she were denied, she would've had a much stronger leg to stand on.

I just think see did not pursue all the options available to her and is therefore either uninformed/dumb or she was just looking to make a statement.

When I go, I'm going to do all three. I'm old school. Screw someone else killing my animal for me

You can't change the date, that is set in stone because Eid is set in stone.

The Hajj formally begins on the eighth day of Dhul-Hijjah (the 12th month of the Islamic lunar year). It is during this month that the annual pilgrimage to Mecca occurs. Prophet Muhamamad himself sanctioned the first ten days of this month as a special time for devotion. All of the rituals cumulate on Eid < More complex but short and simple version
I hope the animal sinks his teeth into your butt before you do him in. At least he'll die with a smile on his face. LOL. (I hate animal cruelty - in the US you'd be locked up for it).

It might be noted that the school does allow unpaid leave for various (clearly specified) reasons. Religion is not one of them. I would find it hard to believe that this is not explained to every employee there when they are hired. For someone then to demand to get a privilege that they were told they (and no one else) has, ought to be grounds for termination. This lady is lucky she wasn't fired.

That is not a requirement of Hajj. It is Sunnah and not obligatory.

Do you honestly know nothing about Hajj? Hajj always occurs before Eid al-Adha, which occurs in the last month of the Islamic calendar. How would you like it if people started telling you to change the day Christmas or Easter is on? Does that seem logical?

Does it seem logical to have an event that brings 2,000,000 people to one region all year round? That's not exactly practical.

Won't happen, I'm hardly an amateur and I could care less what you hate or what the law is in US.

And I sure hope you are a vegan

Yes, that's clearly what I said...

You said they did away with the requirement to kiss the Hajr Aswad. I corrected you by stating that was never a requirement. How you equated that with being able to do whatever you want during Hajj is beyond me.
