Obama to sign Child Nutrition Bill today

Only no one is doing this. You're free to eat whatever you like.
Well shoot... if THAT'S true, why do we need a multibillion dollar program? I mean, kids are already free to eat whatever they want, right? :lamo

Didn't take long to find it, either.

OMG I'm laughing out loud... "green cafeterias"???

What will they think of next?

Oh! Oh! I know!

that part of the bill is to regulate what schools can serve the kids, which isn't a problem the schools get money from the government anyway and there is no reason that the schools should be serving unhealthy food. If you want your kid to get fat pack a lunch for them.

I can't afford to pack a lunch! Little Timmy is one of those "hungry children" who needs school breakfast lunch and dinner.

Now, given that he's "free to eat whatever he likes" or so Boo says... where can we turn in this soy patty and plain yogurt for some real food?

Were you tackled, hogtied, and dragged to a session and told how to eat?

the POINT, is passing legislation banning legal substances from my everyday life, whether it be in my childs school or on the shelves of the supermarket is wrong.
Or at least in the America I grew up in.
I will teach my kids portion control, and not scare them into thinking having a package of oreos after a healthy lunch will kill them,
IF
thats alright with you.

Even children a few months old will gain too much weight if you feed them too much. A three year-old cannot weigh 150 pounds without being overfed. It is not physically possible.

Their political lean still has nothing to do with it. If some conservatives say that liberals want a government that usurps all parental authority, I can bring up a case where parental authority clearly needs to be usurped. And again, the fact that you're trying to defend parents that would turn their three year-old into a walking health bomb shows exactly how unsupportable your opinions are.

And I can address who ever I want in my posts. Hi UtahBill. Ooooo it burns doesn't it?

Your posting is ignorant, and without merit....I suggest that you go back and google Anamarie before I take the time to embarrass you.

Because it is about a different issue altogether. You really should learni what is at issue before you join in on a discussion. I'm just saying . . . . :coffeepap

And what do you see as that issue Joe?

J, you need to be told as well?

It is about providing meals, and assuring that our tax dollars pay for nutrious food. No where in the bill is anyone telling you what you can eat, and to suggest that your rights are bieng violated is either dishonest or ignorant.

You may oppose it for many reasons, but try not to exaggerate and be silly. It's not too much to ask. :peace

I'd say we don't need a multi billion dollar bill to do that, heck it should be directed at the state level, if not the local school board.

Maybe we don't. But, that's not the point ebing addressed. We will never be able to talk actual issues as long as so many go silly and say the government is telling us what to eat.

Well, it damned well should be! We can't afford this nanny state crap.

People worry about losing liberty, I'd say being vigilant is a good thing where liberty and freedom are concerned.

It sounds like it but actually cheap food is very unhealthy. It's not all having enough food, you need the right food, fact is kids from low income families often suffer from all kinds of vitamin and nutritional deficencies that contribute to serious health problems later on. In short, you can't eat pop-tarts every night.

Rich people eat like **** too... Just sayin. All the money in the world being pumped into this issue won't change this.

You can do whatever you want, but don't think for a minute that the schools are going to feel obligated to provide junk food. You will have to provide that for yourself.
Seems to me a healthy lunch would include enough food that the oreos are not needed. Just sayin'

Being silly and stupid is not being vigilant. No one is making you eat anything you don't want. it is silly and ignorant to say they are.

And we can't afford two wars either, so I noted your complaint with them being started without just cause as well. :coffeepap

the govt is giving advice, not mandating anything....I agree that we don't need a mulitbillion dollar program to do that, surely the teachers can find time to teach a little bit of nutrition once a week or so. And surely the schools can remove the vending machines that contain junk food, it they want.
This whole thing has been blown out of proprotion, and has about as much merit as the so called death panels.

Maybe you should stop the ad hominem attack calling your political opponents "silly, and stupid" and you might find a better level of debate. People are not al "silly, and ignorant" if they don't agree with you sir.

And we can't afford two wars either, so I noted your complaint with them being started without just cause as well.

Clever, so let me get this straight, under the laws that govern "you did it first...." you get to do anything you want and point to the war in Iraq, and Afghanistan to justify your socialist take over of America? That's a real stretch Joe, even for you.

Just a question....Is there money to the schools from the Fed if they comply with the standards?

If I can't think of anything logical to rebut someone's point, I normally just avoid the thread. I mean, I see you have your own tactic, but you might want to give mine a try. It looks a little less...obvious.
