And humble too :ninja:
Yes, The Good Reverend is very humble.... It's part of his awesomeness.
And humble too :ninja:
There is a lot of hyperbole with some here. No one said kids would starve to death. And there was also a discussion that too many wasted calories could be unhelathy, and that people could eat a lot of calories and still be malnuorished. Now, we can talk abuot any of that, but we shouldn't be too silly with the exaggerations.
That said, glad it passed and like megaprogman, hope this serves us well.
I'm surprised he lived to tell the tale, you don't get between an American and their junk food...
Your portions in your restaraunts when I come down there, are simply unreal. Impossible to finish man, crazy stuff.
It's going to work because every government program works!
I remember a time when I loved the portion size. Frankly, getting more for the money seemed proper to me. Alas, I had to lose 150 lbs and now I have to pay for getting less. Sadly.
Or exhibit self control and leave 1/2 of it on your plate. rof

My biggest concern about this legislation is whether children are going to be willing to eat the healthier food.

You're just not trying hard enough....Come on man, put your heart into it.....

They will probably be going to really want to eat junk at home now.
If this bill was JUST about healthier school lunches, I wouldn't have much of a problem,
I just think it's more about big government control, especially over parents and children.
I think things like this should be in the hands of state or even local governments where there is a need.
I honestly don't think our children are going "hungry." That wording is just to make the bill more palatable to those of us who want less government control over our lives.
If I had self control, I doubt I'd ever seen 350 to start with. :3oops:

The Good Reverend was dead lifting that this morning..... rof
I like to eat, and I eat a lot..... But I work it all off.....
So, let me get this straight: we're spending $4.5 billion to keep poor kids from getting fat?
I thought this bill was to prevent them from starving to death, in the street. That's how it was portrayed when the Republicans opposed the bill.
I was proud of the Republicans but this turns out to be bi-partisan with the help of Mitch McConnell :-(
Some other do-gooders are Pelosi, Reid,Lincoln, Harkin, and (Arne Duncan, Kathline Sebelious, Michelle Obama)
Literally since the food you're gonna be eating will give you heart disease...
Yep, I did that when I was younger. It'll catch up with later. At 350 I was running 4-5 miles a day. I lifted weights as well. Always have (though I lift fewer today). Today I run 7-10 miles a day, every day, eat less than 2100 calories a day, and struggle to stay below 200 lbs. What you do today, you have to do for life.
No doubt....As a trucker, I ballooned up to about 280lbs. Which isn't real bad considering I am 6'4" tall, but as I get older, I knew I wanted to drop the lbs. and get a little healthier, so I started packing my own food, and avoid the fast junk as much as possible.

Did you use to hit those Trucker Diners? I love those places...
I can semi understand breakfast, but dinner? Are they going to give kids small portions? The obesity problem has to do with kids culture and eating habits. They eat too much crap and sit in front of the TV too much. More calories in than what goes out, and it turns to fat. I would say it may be more beneficial to make kids take PE each year and actually have them physically work. However, I don't think the government can stop the obesity problem. I hope they don't use it as an excuse to encroach upon a family's private life and dictate what they can feed their kids. Being fat may be unhealthy, but that's still a persons right.
OMG! I need a drool smiley....Yep...They are great. I still go if I am out for more than a couple of days, but now I try to take smaller portions, and include a salad, along with no soda, just water.

My parents took away Soda from the house when I was 13, best decision I think they ever made... I hate soda now. Makes me feel sick.
I agree. I used to drink about a 6 pack a day of Dew....I gave that up, and instantly dropped 15lbs. the sugar content is amazing.
Now I stick to coffee, and water.
