Bernie Sanders' 8 and a Half Hour Speech in Senate

Every, EVERY role in the military is in support of a combat role.

Have you ever heard of the U.S. Army boxing team? I know guys who didn't do anything but box for almost their whole time in the army.

If results are truly what matters, this administration applied rules to TARP, recouped TARP, and is headed for a profit for the taxpayers off TARP.

It's almost like there's a perverse joy as ultra-cons do their best Snidely Whiplash and pray for the president's failure. Every success is ignored and every redirection magnified. For every one of these links projecting doom, I can link equally credible sources projecting big successes in the long run. I don't get it.

The army has an elite athlete program. I was recruited to be on the USArmy Marksmanship Unit/US Army shooting team. lots of olympic medalists have come from this program that specializes in the less popular international style shooting events such as Olympic Trap, ISU Skeet, and free pistol. HOwever, that unit has useful military applications in that many of the top sniper rigs were designed by the AMU gunsmiths etc.

MOre than a few dems were doing their best to convince everyone-including our enemies-that the war under Bush was a disaster so they would have a campaign issue in 2004. I hope Obama fails because I don't want him appointing any more supreme court justices who are childless liberal women whose views of America's future are far different than mine. I do realize that Obama's proposed compromise is good for the GOP, good for the country and good for his reelection chances though

This applies to the boxing team how?

I was merely noting that the army supports athletes in several different olympic sports. they have a wrestling team as well and during the vietnam war Stan Smith was in the army and had an army tennis coach (Bill Maze or Glaze-something like that-he stayed at our home when SMith Came to Cincinnati to play in what was then the Western Professional Tennis championships).

By now youre over your head you need a straw to breathe through.

Show where this articles states that the role of every soldier is in support of a combat role.

These are your words right? Or are you going to try the typical liberal stunt by lying and claiming it not what you meant?

Every, EVERY role in the military is in support of a combat role. Until you can find proof otherwise , which you cant, cont making yourself look like an idiot. I am sitting here laughing at your ignorance.

Now if you want to say there is wasteful spending in the military I would have to agree. But thats not what you said. You said that the majority of the troops are behind desks and their jobs were not supporting your freedoms. That is where you made your idiotic and stupid statement about our troops. EVERY soldier in the military is a support role to combat troops. Without combat troops and the people whom support them there are no freedoms nor anyone to fight for them.

So you have been enlightened. Remember next time you want to be a typical liberal military basher because there will always be a vet around to set you straight.

"Liberal stunt..." Don't you see? This where things beak down. Why not just view it as an individual argument? Why label the person something you disdain and dehumanize them? Perhaps it has nothing to do with "liberal." Perhaps - just perhaps - the person can think for the themselves with their own unique point of view? Can you imagine that at all?

For me, what is most frustrating about this way of thinking is that most of the ultra-cons I have met know nothing of "Liberals." They only seem to know what they've been told, as evidenced by the outrageous stereotypes they use - stereotypes that are hilarious in their absurdity.

Ah yes the massive military bureaucracy which has been attacked by everyone in and outside the military is the one you think signs for your bullets? Here I'll rub your face in your own bull****:

Gates urges cuts in military bureaucracy | North America > United States from AllBusiness.com

Please save us all the 'veteran' rant as long as you want to pretend that all the paper pushers in the military are actually supporting anyone.
Actually, it's your ignorance. it's not the "lack" of support that is the problem in the military. We have a ton of people in every position, it's the lack of efficiency due to outdated jobs(i.e. not combining IT with IS and EM with ET). Gates isn't cutting bureaucracy because there aren't enougb "support positions", he's cutting bureacracy because it's not efficient enough. And I can see it improving, little by little,.

I think almost every one of that guys post slanders or bashes liberals somehow, has curse words and is filled with "idiots". I'm really surprised he hasn't gotten banned yet. He got banned from a thread the other night because he had a melt down. The deep hatred for anything leftist or democrat is kind of disturbing. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a future Timothy McVeigh on our hands.

Google: Military MWR.

You are on thin ice here. The rest of your post was just meaningless.

To those who would bring up unions every time the discussion is about outsourcing American jobs: Here in the Lone Star state there is minimal union activity. The Teamsters are the only union that I can think of at the moment that even exists here. Texas is also a "right to work" state, meaning that you can scab union jobs with the backing of state law.

We lost about 3/4 of our semiconductor and telecom industries in the last 15 years to foreign countries. Those industries are not unionized in Texas. So this misinformation that outsourced American jobs are union jobs doesn't apply here. It simply makes the union blamers sound like complete idjits.

I live in texas, so I can say with equal certainty that, with the near non-existence of union jobs, the only jobs that could be outsourced ARE non-union jobs. And it makes better sense in the semiconductor field due to the nature of the industry.

but I couldn't make that claim because I don't have a source, but I'm guessing your claim does?

Did they or didnt they have a MOS? Just as I thought, I am right again.

I never attack the person only the group. And yes I believe liberalism has caused this coutry to be weak. If they are not bashing it then its telling everyone how much we are wrong when this country has done a hell of a lot more good than bad. But to a liberal its the other way around. I am American first over any political party or belief. Too bad I cannot say the same about liberals.

Oh btw, if I were you I would learn the rules around here because what you posted is against them.

How is paying soldiers to box related to a combat mission?
More ignorance. When they joined they didn't join to be a boxer. They had a MOS which is either a support role or direct combat role which is their job in the military. During the time of war, if needed, they go back to whatever MOS they came from and stop being a boxer. There is no BOXER MOS in the military. Geesh where do these people come from where they cannot understand the simple structure of the armed forces. Better that you shut up then cont to make yourself look foolish.

I joined the military 6 months ago and graduated bootcamp 4 months ago. It boggles my mind how people here can tell me that "the military is like this" when they haven't even joined, and continue to bs as if they have some clue. It's half way scary that these people vote because i can only imagine what kind of people they elect will do if they share that mindset.

How old are you? Seriously, every one of your post you either call someone an idiot or tell someone to shut up or say something that is shockingly immature for someone who supposedly was a leader in our military? You are unable to have an intelligent debate without making things personal and throwing around insults. I'll bet you wont last here long before you get banned.

You're wrong. Paying people to box is not related to any combat role. The boxing team does not disband in times of war and there are guys who have seen no combat in Iraq or Afghanistan because they are simply boxing. Just because they keep their MOS doesn't mean jack. Our tax dollars go to paying guys to play a sport rather than serving our country.

Been there and done that kid. Except when I was serving I was actually doing my job instead of playing on the computer all day. My tax dollars are paying your salary. If you have free time, go run or go to the range, or study military history instead debating politics. As a soldier your job isn't to be a pseudo-politician, its to serve whatever government and president is in place. When you retire then you'll have the luxury of doing that.

Then by all means explain to everyone here the virtues of Richard Nixon and his staff breaking into the offices of the Democratic National Convention. Or how justified it was for Woodrow Wilson to use the U.S. military to support dictatorships in Latin America. Or how great Andrew Jackson was in relocating Native Americans to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears in an act that, if done today, would be considered genocide.

Just because one group or another has criticism for their country does not mean they are unpatriotic or want to make it weak. No country is beyond the scrutiny of criticism. And any step to reduce criticism of a government is one step closer to making that government a tyrannical dictatorship.

You call someone out for taking things personal...yet you do the same? And why are you waving around the "ban hammer" when you haven't even reached 1000...no 100...no 50 posts yet? You don't seem to know how anything works here, you've broken one rule already that could get you banned, depending on how many infractions you have.
