Hackers Target WikiLeaks 'Enemies': Mastercard, Twitter, Paypal, Even FoxNews(edited)

FoxNews.com - Hackers Target WikiLeaks 'Enemies': Mastercard, Twitter, Paypal, Even FoxNews.com

The more I read the more I am on Wikileaks side. It is pretty damn obvious the guy was setup for the rape charge now. It is also pretty damn obvious these are things we the American people needed to know. I wish these hackers luck and hope they bring these sites to their knees.

I hope these hackers get caught and are put in jail along with Assange. They have to right to attack websites that are "enemies" of Assange. Assange is a thief and a thug. I truly believe he is a danger to humanity with his abuse of "transparency." These hackers have no right to do what they are doing. They are harming private businesses because they don't support Assange.

Wow!!! You support illegal activity and cyber terrorists... What is wrong with what Master Card and Visa did? They were merely enforcing the terms of use that is in their contract with their merchants. PayPal did the same... These hackers are little more than cyberterrorists engaging in illegal activity...

What the hackers are doing is illegal and from a legal standpoint has no connection with Wikileaks. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I do not support vigilantism.

Re: MasterCard site is down, twitter, paypal, foxnews.com is next in hacker attacks.

    here's a recap of events.

Assange and wikileaks post hundreds of thousands of cables from members of the US government to foreign diplomats.

The US gov't tells amazon to stop hosting the wikileaks website. they comply.

hours later wikileaks is up on a european server.

according to the bbc, they are currently running on 14 servers in 14 different countries.
BBC News - Wikileaks' struggle to stay online

Wikileaks has effectively weaved itself a complex web of suppliers and it seems even the domain name companies are confused. -BBC
The US government, unable to shut them down, commenced cyber attacks. They basically tried (are trying) to overload the site, through attacks that repeatedly make a connection to the site, in effect making it so hundreds of thousands of people connect to the site at the same time.

i've been to the site. the attacks are being handled smoothly by wikileaks.

Paypal withholds 60,000 pounds from assange, wikileaks founder. Mastercard and Visa stop making payments to wikileaks. His swiss bank stops action on his account.

The people take action. Knows as "operation payback", the internet community acts.

Paypal, mastercard, Visa, Assang's bank, are all hit with cyber counter attacks. Visa.com, supposedly secure, goes down. As does mastercard. as does paypal.

    Paypal releases Assange's funds.

Wikileaks goes global. last i checked there were 1334 mirror sites for wikileaks. found here WikiLeaks - Mirrors of our website

The information they present can now be downloaded via bit torrent http://213.251.145.96.

Its a cyber war. and the US government is losing.

Re: MasterCard site is down, twitter, paypal, foxnews.com is next in hacker attacks.

Last I checked our own elected officials can and have done us far more harm than a guy that has more integrity in his right pinky finger than the entire US media. While not even nearly as large in scale, when I was operating an editorial site I was subjected to many cease and desist as well as calls from lawyers for giving out "trade secrets" which I was unaware were even seen as such.

These attacks show just how fragile the internet truly is and thus far should be seen as a message from people who want the truth, not to **** with people that want it.
