In what areas of the OP, exactly, did Obama say we need innovation? Anything specific? Or, rather, more big words with little action.

He needed something to beat the Soviets at, get America believing in something huge, spur innovation, etc etc. One could argue in 1960 that there were only viable options, but it took some thinking to go from 'general idea' to specific one.

    See?
But Kennedy never said he would go away and think for a while and then promise to come up with something innovative.

Instead he simply came up with something innovative, which was an inspired challenge.

Now BHO is going to have to come up with something innovative himself or just hope that people forget he made this promise at all. He put unnecessary pressure on himself while trying to make himself appear to be Kennedyesque. It's as though he's just winging it, trying to be something that he really isn't.

I think that is a very good description of the Obama presidency.

No, not really seeing the Kennedy speech where he said "Yeah, let's do . . . SOMETHING COOL! I'll fill you in later."

No he didn't, which I don't hold the two on the same footing. Simply saying something non-specific is one thing, and in this case something I like, however its still only something non-specific. I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm simply saying its a good idea to fund innovation into new technologies.

So!!!! Second part of question. (I just made that up. Ha.)

What could he come up with?

    Artificial Intelligence? What?
The devil whispered in my ear, "You cannot withstand the storm." I whispered back, "I am the storm."

You can't think of a single part of American life, industry, etc which could use some innovation?

Apparently Obama does, which is why he invoked Kennedy.

I think so, too. Who isn't for "innovation"? But you need a goal. Until you have that, you've got squat. Obama's got squat. It was a pointless, empty speech.

I think you're being biased, but either way you're right so far its nothing.

Everyone's biased. But I'm not wrong, as you said.
