Dec. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Nigeria will file charges against former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and officials from five foreign companies including Halliburton Co. over a $180 million bribery scandal, a prosecutor at the anti-graft agency said.
So far, 23 officials from Haliburton and other companies have been arrrested in this scandal, which occurred from 1995-2000, but I doubt Cheney will be arrested himself. I think it will be difficult to prove that Cheney knew what the Haliburton officials in Nigeria were doing, since he was here in the US, running the company from it's HQ here in Houston.
The way I see it, if it is proven that officials from Haliburton bribed Nigerian officials, they should rot in a Nigerian prison. Bribery is bribery, no matter which country it is in.
On the other hand, if Haliburton was running a Nigerian scam against Nigerian officials, I am all for it, and declare with a loud voice "Not guilty, the playing field is now leveled".
