So you are telling me there is no point in trying to suggest healthy habits so why do it in the first place? Do you let the fat kids sit around in gym and eat ice cream too?

No. I'm all for teaching kids how to eat healthy. I'm NOT for spending billions of taxpayer dollars on programs to "encourage eating healthy" (you don't need to spend ANY money to do that). I'm all for healthier school lunches as well, but just know that the majority of kids are NOT going to eat most vegetables no matter what. I've seen kids eat absolutely nothing on their tray because they don't like any of it. They just wait a couple hours and eat when they get home. You cannot make a kid eat what he or she doesn't like.

It isn't the government's job to tell us what to eat or drink. That's the parents job.
    Catch me if you can.

So then you let children go malnurtioned then? Ever thought of trying to make eating healthy fun? I don't know what grade children you are teaching but I bet you could do that if you had the time in the schedule.

True that, but when a child goes to school a parent is putting trust in the educators that they will do what is right for the child. I see parents giving their children nothing but ramen, hot pockets, and little cans of vienna wieners all the time. If they don't learn healthy habits at home are you saying they are just ****ed?

Parents should pack a HEALTHY lunch for their kids. Make parents responsible for a change!!! If the government can't then it is what is is but the government should stay out of people's lives.

if all parents were responsible to do this then there would be no problem to address

it is the children who are having to deal with the hunger and society deals with the negative effects of their malnutrition (poor academic achievement, health issues down stream)
we are negotiating about dividing a pizza and in the meantime israel is eating it

Yeah and you see here lies the problem. You have to totally disregard what I just posted for this to actually be possible.

"Let children go malnurished"? What am I going to do, force broccoli down their throat at school and then follow them home and force brussel sprouts down their throat too?

We do teach healthy eating in science. What more do you expect? Some people just don't want to eat healthy. Some people don't care to buy healthy food for their kids. You have to let it go.
