I'll let my signature speak for me on this thread.
Sorry... but the first quote is NOT attributed to Jefferson. It's attributed to John Sharp Williams, who was a Democrat and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives from 1903-1908. Williams made the quote about Jefferson and this quote from 1807: "History, in general, only informs us what bad government is." But no, Jefferson did not say this.
The second quote ALSO was never made by Jefferson. It was made by John Galt in a book in 1986, false attributing it to Jefferson. The only quote that might come close to this from Jefferson is this: "To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, ‘the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, & the fruits acquired by it."
Simple search engine search yielded these results. So, letting your signature speak for yourself in this thread doesn't say too much.
Neither quote is Jefferson's so you might want to consider altering your signature to reflect accuracy.
