Who is celebrating other than out of staters who see this as an opportunity to divert from what is going on in their state and since liberals couldn't get DeLay at the ballot box they went after him in court.

you mean to ask am i going to accept the legal determination which has been established in a court of law

well, then, if that is what you want, why don't you practice it yourself and recognize that the guilty plea against the hammer is a valid one instead of killing off the remaining shreds of your credibility defending the indefensible

How Cornyn and Perry won in a landslide? This was a political witch hunt and I find it interesting that those outside of TX are posting with great glee activities that didn't affect them and is probably going on in their own state.
again, you seem to be confused, obama or the recent elections have nothing to do with what delay was convicted of....this is a smokescreen on your part, to try and muddy the waters, in your vain effort to defend what delay did.

SHOCKED I TELL YA SHOCKED! that he was convicted. while i would hope he would serve some time for his actions, i seriously doubt he will get more than a slap on the wrist...the question was asked as to why you feel it necessary to strongly defend him...i'm curious to that myself...and you are correct, i'm not from texas, but i feel the people of the great state of texas deserve better, whether they be conservative, liberal, or anything in between.
I agree with much of what you stated however the people "of the great state of texas" continue to decide that this country is headed in the wrong direction and in spite of what DeLay was convicted of doing the state continues to overwhelmingly support Conservative principles. This is all about redistricting which had zero affect on the National elections for President and Senate. Overwhelmingly the state voted for Conservatives on Nov. 2 and continue to lead the nation in economic results. The joy that many experience because of the verdict is nothing more than a "gotcha" moment that means nothing on the national stage.

Right, and the election results show how insignificant this verdict was in the overall election process.

Do you think that changing the law is appropriate to go back and prosecute someone for actions taken before the law was in place?
That was the conspiracy to violate election law charge. It was thrown out and upheld by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in '07

You don't seem to know very much about this case, do you? Seems as though you're just regurgitating what is spoon fed to you. Maybe you need to move a little closer to Austin...LOL...

My credibility is boosted by the facts that I present. This case isn't over and will be overturned on appeal due to the fact that the law was changed in 2003 to prosecute an action that occurred in 2002. Someone like you that piles and simply doesn't like DeLay doesn't have a lot of room when it comes to credibility.

conservative, this thread has nothing to do with 'conservative values', national elecions, or anything for that matter that has to do with obama or the senate....all you are doing is spouting the same line over and over again, trying to make this thread about something its not, please stop, and debate the topic of the thread, which is delay and the verdict rendered against him..

LOL, no, I prefer living where I live, but thanks for the recommendation. I stand by my claim and we shall see in the appeals process. This is a TX issue, not a national issue so tell me why you have so much passion and hatred for Tom DeLay? Looks to me like you may have been spoon fed some false information but your opinions formed by listening to the media.

It is all about conservative values, national elections as the results of what DeLay was convicted of doing had no affect on the national elections in this state therefore how did he as you stated in a previous post, "destroy the will of the people?"
