Steal a little, go to jail; undermine the representative democracy? "Ouch that hurt, don't slap my wrist so hard!"

he most likely would have lost even worse and the appellate record would be not as helpful

How many times has some white collar crook stolen many millions of dollars, and got fined only thousands...it is like the govt is saying, " you have been a bad boy, and got caught, so we have to fine you, but you will get to keep most of it...

here is my view-prison should be used to physically incapacitate those who pose a physical risk to others. not to house non violent criminals who can be punished other ways such as fines or making them work for the public. and civil or criminal forfeitures are rather effective in divesting frauds of their ill gotten gains

To me overturning his conviction would be the miscarriage of justice.

Sometimes when I see a corrupt politician get convicted I have hope that the mess can be cleaned up but then I remember there are so many that are corrupt still there (on both sides) and more lining up to take their place I again lose all hope.

Clearly GOP Texans love their crooked politicians....

To be honest, tho, I doubt Texans can ever achieve the level of Chicago crookedness...
I quite frankly don't care one way or the other but would love to see liberals back peddling and simply shutting up. The evidence really doesn't warrant the verdict and that is actual attorneys in Houston say. Had they thought this verdict would be guilty, DeLay would have gone on the stands. It was a total shock.

Sorry, Utah, but my state is better than yours, so there just like my mommie can beat up yours
