‘Conservative’ asked how Delay's crimes affected people outside of Texas and I answered that he ensured that popular Democratic incumbents to the U.S. Congress were defeated when their districts were redrawn by a Republican dominated legislature to their political demise. All Delay had to do was illegally convert corporate money into paid media benefiting Republican candidates for state legislative offices. Now, he's a convicted criminal and all those popular Democratic incumbents are former U.S. Representatives. Delay may rot in jail, but, your Congress will never be the same. I was wrong: I said the whole of the state of Texas was a crime scene; the reality is the whole of the United States is the crime scene.

The guy who blew up a US embassy, killing 280 people gets 20 years and Delay is looking at life, because he spent political donations on...uh...politics.
Our justice system is a ****ing joke.
good for you!
i haven't typed a stroke in defense of delay, if that's who you mean, for all i know he's guiltyWhy are you defending a crook.
yup, it starts at the topWe need look past these idiots that con us and get honest people, GOP or Dem.
did you know charlie's still representing washington heights, geithner's still at treas
the 41 tax cheats, at least as of sept 10, according to wapo, are still in the white house
deal with them
There are a couple of things about this subject that bother me:
By no means am I saying that all posters of any particular lean are behaving in a certain way. I'm just saying I noticed patterns that bothered me.
- The propensity of left-leaning posters for celebration
- The propensity of right-leaning posters for obfuscation and finger-pointing
What bothers me the most is the fact that DeLay is facing a maximum sentence of 99 + 20 years. That's obscene.
Criminal sanctions should in some way be proportional to actual harm done. Failing a clear finding on that front, a sentence of not more than 3 years is more than reasonable.
did you hear about what looks like hush money charlie gave to sitting members of the ethics committee, source cbs?
Did Rangel pay off Ethics Committee members? Update: WaPo says, “Time to go” « Hot AirCBS 2 HD has learned of more alleged back-door dealings and political power peddling by Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel.
The reigning member of Congress’ top tax committee is apparently “wrangling” other politicos to get him out of his own financial and tax troubles. …
CBS 2 HD has discovered that since ethics probes began last year the 79-year-old congressman has given campaign donations to 119 members of Congress, including three of the five Democrats on the House Ethics Committee who are charged with investigating him.
Charlie’s “angels” on the committee include Congressmen Ben Chandler of Kentucky, G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina and Peter Welch of Vermont. All have received donations from Rangel.
