North Korea reportedly fires at South

hmmm, not in my eyes. I'd rather be shot at by artillery then rockets. Rockets just scare me.

The size of the boom is the important part I think.

Only a fool would defend a people who hate us. The South Koreans don't like Americans. Do you remember the Mad Cow Candlelight vigils that attracted hundreds of thousands of anti-American demonstrators.

Well, on the other hand, every South Korean I've met has been really friendly.

I believe Artillery is much more destructive, and indiscriminate....Although both are not good.

They know when to push. Clinton... now Carter II. When you have a weakling and apologist as president, it invites these scenarios.

.

Really? Because they started **** with the US during Bush also! Quit being an irrational hater of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE that doesnt belong to your Party. You hard-core conservatives REALLY need to grow up and learn outside of your protective playpen.

OHHH! and did you forget Iraq flying outside of the No-Fly ZOne during Bush? You rember Bushs response? That just end SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO freaking well DIDNT IT!?!?!

My wife is Korean, She woke me early this morning crying. She had just gotten of the phone with her sister in Seoul who told her about this. She told my wife that she feared that the cease fire would no longer stand. I hope that both sides show restraint. A full blown war on the Korean Penensula could thrust the world into war. Especially if the north uses nukes.

And leave our Ally to fight alone? If this escalates this COULD bring in China AND Russia. THis is VERY not good.

Why on Earth do you think Russia would side with North Korea? Russia was the first nation to condemn the attacks, and has sent troops to the Vladivostok Oblast in case of further escalation. Russia detests North Korea, and hates sharing a border, however small, with it.

China is the only world power of the five thus far to have said that they can't make a statement -- France, Britain, the US and Russia have all condemned the attack and made shows of solidarity for South Korea.

Actually South Korea DOES like us and is a good ally of ours. You can find wing-nuts in EVERY country. Even the ones we are allies with. They generally are the far-Left wacko's too from what I see.

Yeah, Bush's response was the same as Clinton's was.

Any more "irrational hate" to share ??

Friday night, a crowd estimated by police at 10,000 people gathered in downtown Seoul for a candlelight vigil against the resumption of beef imports. They chanted "Down with President Lee Myung-bak."

Do you follow the SK newspapers or the American/Korean blogs? Follow the Hankyoreh. The SK left is virulently anti-American because it holds America responsible for the series of military dictatorships that ruled the country in the past.

SKoreans are making sweet sounds now because they are busy pooping their pants out of fear of the Dragon. It's not America's fight. Don't look for trouble.

All the lives on the Korean Peninsula are not worth a single drop of American blood. This is not America's fight.

Oh.... really? Youre wrong. Have any more misinformation you care to share? It was the Bush administrations CONSTANT hammering in the media about it, that along with the NON-EXISTANT WMDs that lead to the most pointless war this Country has had since I even cant remember when. Bush, because of the transgrssion of the no-fly zone, the (false) WMDs and the most likely false allegations he is keeping inspectors out that he decided to invade a Country. The world is NOT better off for it. The US has MANY dead and permently wounded men and women AND it has cost us over a Trillion dollars!
I like Bush as a man. I feel he is a very good and honerable person. I voted for him twice and campaigned for him twice. But he made a HORRIBLE decision.
ANyhow a Democrat as President is just as good as a Republican regarding these matters or war and if ANYONE thinks differently you really have to jump out of your partisan playpen and grow the hell up.

It is our ALLY!!!!!!
You dont drop your support of an ally!!!
Thank God you arent a friend of mine and all of a sudden a bar fight breaks out.
See the difference is I WOULD HAVE YOUR BACK. Where YOU would be running or the door and leave without your friends.
At LEAST America still stands for protecting our Allies!

Wipe the foam off your mouth.....

You claimed that Bush had a response to Saddam's violations of the no-fly zone that were somehow different than Clinton's. It wasn't. Clinton fired missiles into Baghdad for no-fly zone violations.

Get a grip and try reading some nonpartisan history and facts for once.

Communism on the rampage again, same as here.

UCU « Communist Students

French lefties have come over here to subvert the British educational system.

Workers Power - British section of the League for the Fifth International

As always, the brothers of the Tiananmen Square or Katyn butchers are once again causing chaos throughout the world!

In Britain, I wonder what Peter Mandelson, Charles Clarke, Peter Hain and other top 'ex' Communists who led the country make of all this now? We've certainly not heared a squeak!

New Labour's Communist Heritage and Pride!

Fire back NOW South Korea! The West will be behind you, same as last time!

At LEAST America still stands for protecting our Allies!

How does America benefit from the US/ROK Mutual Defense Treaty? What interest do we have on the Korean Peninsula other than using it as a platform to defend Japan? The SKoreans see Americans in the same way they see the Japanese. That prevents the alliance from being viable. South Korea is rich and powerful. Let the South Koreans defend their country

Besides, the North Koreans are protected by the Chinese. China will not allow the DPRK to be defeated by America. America has lost it's leverage with the Chinese.

Finally, Obama would screw up military action some way. His incompetence is now a matter of general consensus.

Whovian,

I think you are a nice guy, and a real smart poster. I also think you need to attach articles that will open up when you link them.

that's odd... it worked when I posted it... looks like they took it down...

The United States is being kept busy by the Middle East and Afghanistan, as well as having border problems of its own.

Thiis is the time when those who say "America is not the policeman of the world" can search for other alternatives. They cannot spread themselves too thinly or there'll quickly be serious problems elsewhere.

I think at this point it is time that we come to the side of our incredible personal, political, and economical ally South Korea. The time for talk right now has passed. The time for action is at hand and I believe that ramping up our armed forces in the Pacific surrounding North Korea would be in the best interest of our allies in Asia.
Except it isnt that simple. You risk pulling China in and that is war we cannot win.

I do not think China is going to defend North Korea from an invasion. More likely they would step in to pre-empt an invasion and force North Korea to back down or seek a resolution.
