Re: North Korea reportedly fires at South

    Hey guys,

I've been tearing up the highways for the past couple of days so I haven't been able to post much. But I feel I needed to say this.

I owe MSgt an apology. I have accused him several times now in true knee jerk fashion of being "soft" or not committed to his calling. I was wrong. After re reading, and going over what he is saying, he is far more eloquent than I in expressing exactly what the realities of our current state is.

Many of us in here tend to read quickly, and then with the loaded gun of the keyboard we lash out without truly reading or understanding what is being said. This is a problem when communication person to person is no longer in the equation.

In the future I hope to do better, and have more thoughtful postings, but as for now, MSgt, I offer my apologies, and can only hope that you will accept them in the spirit they are offered.

Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.

Well, anything is possible, but China will not jeopardize economic ties to the U.S. at a time when it is trying to grow. A war that ultimately pits the U.S. against China would wreck both economies and markets all over the world. If it came down to it, they will turn their backs on North Korea because North Korea is obviously the antagonizer in the entire world's eyes. China backing up North Korea in the event that they push a war just isn't tactically sound. China is a rational player.
    This, essentially.

Furthermore, not only is North Korea an antagoniser of China's main business partner, it is a thorn in China's own side. Having an unruly little satellite country never looks good, and when that unruly satellite goes around trying to start wars with nations they can't defeat (thus relying on the mother nation for their supposed victory), that satellite starts to quickly alienate its few allies.

Also, to all of the people saying "if the US went to war with NK, Russia and China would side with NK", that's just flat out wrong. MSgt has explained why the Chinese would come down against North Korea, and I'll do the same for Russia.

It's very simple -- Russia has just recently built itself back up to the status of world power, and is now in good standing with most of the EU, the US and China. It's got major business deals with all three of those economic blocs, and it has every reason to side with them in the event of an escalating war.

On the other hand, there is absolutely no rationale for why Russia, a highly pragmatic nation, would fight to defend a rogue and radical country that has, in the past, fired ICBMs over Russian territorial waters. There are in fact thousands of Russian troops in the Vladivostok region, purely for the purpose of security against North Korea.

Russian/American relations are going to deteriorate. The New Start Treaty will not be ratified. As a result Medvedyev will lose power to the Putin faction. Russia will return to Putinism. Putinism is based on frustrating American power and influence everywhere on earth.

But it is a conspiracy theory that the world is flat...or is that something else?

    Sshuse....dont tell them.
The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

The majority of soldiers walk around with an attitude that they are doing something exceptional. But no you guys are not all spec ops and even then most of them are bored straight. Why? Because the people do not want a war like you war mongers do. Its scary that you are in the position you are in but not surprising when the mentally elite are in the private sector or civie world. Rarely are the mentally elite in the military.

You cannot take out an organization that is multi national without the cooperation of other governments. And also its counter insurgency and terrorism that we need to focus on and not doing what the likes of you would want.
I'll go ahead and say what everyone else is thinking, points be damned...

shut the **** up, asshole. You, like your opinion, suck.

(patiently awaiting poitns and eventual thread ban).
