Well, released today by dirty wikileaks and a traitor in an American embassy.....

Wikileaks cables reveal China 'ready to abandon North Korea'Leaked dispatches show Beijing is frustrated with military actions of 'spoiled child' and increasingly favours reunified Korea

    "Rule out reunification," justabubba?
"Lead to WWIII against China," Ocean City?

Could it be that I have some greater resource to know what is going on? Maybe a crystal ball? Fellas, all I did was apply some book fed knowledge about culture and economy, used some military experience to conclude the likely tactical end, and then applied some good old fashioned common sense. Washington is full of think tanks that do quite the opposite. Critics, called pundits, usually toss out conclusions that are based largely on nothing. And this is why the ignorant lords of negativity have been wrong about everything since 9/11. Their "wisdom" is based on media headlines and assumptions.

In the future, maybe we can take this one more example and appreciate what I'm stating instead of defaulting to "nu-uh." I do not blow smoke up people's asses and I am always with background study. As I stated, China is not willing to damage economic ties to America over North Korea. They are as fed up as we are. And this is one more piece of evidence that substantiates the future call for an American/Chinese world.
    i still don't see it
having spent a number of years living in asia, that they would tell you what you want to hear is not at all unusual
frequently, that is done to allow parties to save face

actually, i would want you to be correct in this instance
and i did not see the fall of the berlin wall until it was happening
but if i were forced to bet, would not wager any money on a korean reunification in my lifetime, nor my kids'
i am still inclined to believe you are engaged in wishful thinking
we are negotiating about dividing a pizza and in the meantime israel is eating it
once you're over the hill you begin to pick up speed

I don't know what you mean by "pooling and easier access to information." This was more about local law enforcement agencies and the CIA. It's a big reason why international terrorists have gotten caught by the FBI since 9/11. The FBI is privy to information regarding a terrorist's name in Pakistan.

That may be true but typically the military doesn't always follow the same guidelines as civilians.

It makes perfect economic sense. North Korea is no "frontline" for either the U.S. or China. It is a burden for both and the tradition of seeing North Korea as the future battle site between an imagined Chinese and American Cold War friction was never anything but shallow thought.

Well, anything is possible, but China will not jeopardize economic ties to the U.S. at a time when it is trying to grow. A war that ultimately pits the U.S. against China would wreck both economies and markets all over the world. If it came down to it, they will turn their backs on North Korea because North Korea is obviously the antagonizer in the entire world's eyes. China backing up North Korea in the event that they push a war just isn't tactically sound. China is a rational player.

The American military is far better educated and much more skilled than Americans generally.

From my experience in uniform and as a military dependent, I respectfully disagree as far as the NCO's are concerned. I'd say it's very similar to a cross section of the American public, no worse, no better. As far as officers they have to have college degrees so...

Motivation is probably better than the typical American public though.

They loose two Marines and now they are our best friend and we must all take up arms and die for them? That seems like a very one sided alliance to me. Back in high school we used to call that a 68.
I don't know if Korean troops have been in Afghanistan or not, but that IS a NATO operation. Furthermore, under the terms of the treaty between the Republic of Korea and the United States, Korea is not under any obligation to support the U.S. militarily. Same is true of Japan. Only Taiwan's included mutual reciprocity (at Chiang Kai-shek's insistance) but the U.S. abrogated that one in 1979.

Apparently, there IS a South Korean presence in Afghanistan...

If anything, the American people have less tolerance towards acts of violence against us.
Which explains why there is so much, undivided support for the US action in Afghanistan right now, right????

There is nothing that is particularly damaging in the wikileaks for the US (just alot of hot air) and most of it was common sense if you even bother to keep up with current events. It might damage the relations between China and NK even further, though, if NK has reason to believe that China is in bed with the US.
