House GOP blocks bill to extend jobless benefits

independent_thinker2002; [QUOTE said:
No, a loss of potential revenue is being called an expense.

Uh, no it isn't. If you project less revenue, spend less. The fact is govt. revenue grew so there wasn't less revenue, there was more. Projections from this Administration have never been accurate.

That's an interesting analysis of TARP.

What does TARP have to do with the banking business model?

The states are broke. Are you suggesting that we let Alaska implode? They take in more federal money than they pay in.

States that are broke spend too much, it has nothing to do with revenue. Give a liberal politician a dollar and they will spend two.

PAYGO says that you can't have a policy in the red for more than 10 years.

Don't see an answer, where does the money come from to pay for extended unemployment benefits?

The GOP is going to raise THE debt ceiling. ;)

Maybe but not without strings. You don't know what the GOP is going to do, hope they allow the govt. to shutdown.

Oh, like the money pit in Iraq?

Right, in the liberal world 100 billion dollars a year will eliminate the trillion dollar a year Obama deficits.

Spending isn't a problem, it is THE problem

please explain the benefits walmart provides to its workers and the community...

my experience isnt the issue here, i asked you to explain to me what kind of jobs walmart offers, what kind of benefits.....either admit you don't know the answers, or quit insinuating that you do.

I don't have to explain anything to you because you don't want to learn. I competed against Wal-Mart and know exactly what they pay and their benefit package. You really need to get out more. Do some research instead of buying what you are told by other liberals.

Harshaw - people without jobs cannot buy products be they cheaply priced, moderately priced or expensively priced. I do not want to punish the poor but rather eradicate most of the poor by elevating them into the middle class of workers. Eliminating good paying manufacturing jobs in America in exchange for saying "welcome to Wal Mart" and inexpensive toothpaste is not my idea of The American Dream.

Obviously, you do not get it.

A trade war will not bring any jobs back. It will only make things more expensive and hurt everyone, most of all the poor, whom you claim to be a champion of.

you won't explain, because YOU DON'T KNOW......don't give me this crap that you 'competed' against them...either put up or shut up, if you 'know', it shouldnt be that hard for you to provide the info. ball is in your court.

Obviously this is a right wing nutto biased article:mrgreen:

Among Benefits For Walmart Workers: A Degree

by Claudio Sanchez

For Walmart, it was a marriage made in heaven. But for Wally Boston, president and CEO of American Public University, initially there were concerns.
"We did not want to put ourselves in a situation where our reputation for quality was damaged," Boston says. He was concerned that potentially doubling APU's enrollment might stretch its services and instructors beyond their capabilities, especially because Walmart employees tend to be older adults who are juggling work and family.
"An adult population is actually considered high-risk," Boston explains. "You can have debt issues managing your budget and those problems in life can exacerbate someone's ability to complete an academic degree — and many times leads to students dropping out."
Brew says the company is putting $50 million into this project over the next three years to make sure it succeeds. So far, only 400 Walmart employees have signed up, but the company intends to roll the project out slowly.

How dare those evil corporations give back to the Communities.

Both corporate and personal income taxes went up AFTER the Bush tax cuts.

If the taxes went up it wouldn't be a tax cut. :rofl

Think that corporations pay higher taxes with lower profits? what do you do when you get to keep more of your income in higher take home pay?

Strawman much?

I attack CBO predictions because history shows how accurate CBO. Why would CBO projections be more accurate than actual numbers? The historical data is there for all to see, you choose to buy projections over actual data thus cannot explain your position.

You didn't read what I posted then. :rofl

An honest analysis of the numbers would be nice.

They take more out of the communities than give back otherwise they would be out of business.

"Your" President is trying to make us into the country you believe in, a socialist one. I like the one we had as do the majority that voted in the last election.

Are you an USA citizen?

Yes, because he was the one who didn't find his veto pen until 2007. He didn't mind unfunded tax cuts and bailing out the irresponsible banks. Spending wasn't THE problem when he was President. :rofl

uh no, you made a claim to have info, i asked you to provide the info, instead you post a link to the walmart corporate website....i doubt you have even looked through that website.....what kind of jobs? what does walmart consider to be full time? what kind of healthcare benefits are offered?? you lose....you have failed to provide the info asked for, even though you 'claim' to know and have it.

I see that you lost your Moderator title. Glad to see that, tax revenue is what I was referring to, not taxes going up. Expiration of the Bush tax cuts means a tax increase.

I have no interest in CBO projections or predictions, only Treasury data as to exactly what happened. Why you would buy what CBO says is quite interesting yet I don't see you ever reporting a CBO revision or acknowledging when they are wrong.

An honest analysis of the numbers would be nice.

Yes, honesty would be nice if it ever came from a liberal. As I posted the U.S. Treasury will compare revenue and expenses by year as to actually what happened. You might just learn something from that site.

A trade war will not bring any jobs back.

It will do one of two things:

1- if we place a tariff on goods coming into the USA this money will go into the coffers of the Treasury and is badly needed by the USA.
or
2- Americans will still desire those products and will now be made here thus creating jobs for Americans.

That is what is called a WIN WIN situation.

LOL, unfunded tax cuts? Here are the budget items for the U.S.Govt. Do you see tax cuts as a line item? How can people keeping more of what they earn be an expense to the govt? where do you think corporate profit taxes come from?

You're kidding, right?
Did you miss where 2/3 of their managers actually started out on the floor in sales or stock. How degrading. I'd collect unemployment before I'd take a job like that.

LOL, yep, so would I. Why would anyone want to move up in a company when they can sit on their collective butts and accept unemployment compensation for over 2 years. How dare Wal-Mart promote from within. I did the same thing thus in the liberal world was evil.

since you know exactly what they pay and their benefit package, what is it? still waiting..........

I didn't lose it. I misplaced it.

Oh, a return to rates under Gingrich. That can't be so bad.

Yes, except for five years since 1963, tax revenues have gone up every year under different tax rates.
