Insisting on American supremacy degrades America's standing in the world. That's an old narrative, and people don't buy it anymore. Hence the icy foreign reception to Bush. In today's politics, it's better to be the primus inter pares (first among equals) than the "God-King."

Not that it matters all that much. When you have a huge nuclear stockpile, advanced military, and economic connections, what you say or how you present yourself doesn't alter your influence much.

If you notice something good in yourself, give credit to God, not to yourself, but be certain the evil you commit is always your own and yours to acknowledge.

LOL-going to a foreign country and telling them that your country isn't any better than theirs is less likely to get you booed compared to telling them that America is the best.

Primus inter pares. Other nations have gone through too much turbulence and made too many economic, political, and cultural advancements to feel as though they owe deference to the United States. Particularly since many of them credit the United States and other Western nations as the instigators of that turbulence.

Well, from how you describe yourself there is certainly nothing exceptional about you, but you seem happy with yourself and are probably able to provide for your family. Why isn't that normalcy acceptable for your country? Why are so concerned about America being the best or exceptional as compared to everyone else in the world? And there are a slew of other countries I can think of who's history and influence in the world certainly places them in an exceptional category. Italy, Greece, China (which is the oldest continuos civilization in the world), German, Japan, England and especially Israel are all quite exceptional. If there are many other countries with exceptional histories and influence on the world, is the U.S. really exceptional?

you know what? you two are making me think.....yessss. I say pull all Aid, and troop protection, along with any systems or tech support what so ever that the US gives these other countries, and let's see who cries first...then we will see no?

Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.

Re: Obama acknowledges decline of US dominance

I only had to read a couple of posts to see that once again the members of the I hate America club are so gleeful to bash away every chance they get.

And that is just Obama not to mention the members who put up posts.

Once again Obama has shown again he is a total Amateur who is out of his league, but that would be true if it was a kindergarten class he was a hall monitor for.

When you are economic distress and the economy is largely based on the how well people think the future will be the very last retarded thing you do is go around announcing it to the world.

Has this damn fool ever heard that if you can't say something nice you keep your stupid mouth shut.

I'm not suggesting he should lie. Not that he's not the King of the world at that. I'm saying you can say if asked that we are hopeful or that we have indications that our recovery is well under way.

You know the crap he was saying before the Republicans handed the Democrats their asses.

This is crazy that people actually still give a tinkers damn about this loser in the first degree.

Oh no, I forgot Obama is right on schedule to destroy our economy in four years or less.

After all his phony Religion Says that is the goal. Don't believe it Read up on Black Liberation Theology.

    Worthless idiot.

Conservatives have reduced this country to the point where we have to borrow money from the Chinese to keep our Navy afloat, let alone the ability to give any aid to worthy international causes. Conservatives have undermined American greatness.
