A Harley is like a Cadillac. You can by cheaper but you get what you pay for. There is also the prestige factor.

Like at my Sig that is a 2011 I just put new pipes on it to get the exhaust to sound right. Just as I do not buy foreign cars I only buy a HD motorcycle.

People in India will buy Harley as a sign of their success

I believe that's what FederalRepublic was implying. A Harley is nothing but an over-priced status symbol. There are many better motorcycles currently on the market, but because of Harley's name and association with American history, they can continue to sell a less inventive product at a higher price.

You are wrong.Harley has made advances through their racing program that they have put into the bikes they sell to the public. Why buy a jap bike that tries to look like Harley when you can have a Harley. Their is reason their are so many Jap wanna be Harley look a likes.

So just checking in this morning, some conservatives still believe this outrageous and false claim of 200 million dollars a day?

    Or have they recanted...?

WAS THIS The part where honor is restored?

And can you prove its not true?

Earlier in the thread I came up with a total of 300 million for this trip.

The question is now, can America afford this ill advised and overly expensive trip so Obama can forget about the ass kicking Americans just gave his party and in truth himself.

The American people are sick of this type of spending like Royalty our elected leadership believe they are entitled to just because they can get away with it. Obama has proven with his many vacations in two years that he doesnt believe in a budget while traveling. Yet the hypocrite stands up in front of every other American and tells us that we must sacrifice during America troubled times.

See, they'll be sold in India

Obviously quite a large market for motorbikes.
Well, it's SOP for the Obama Admin, not to tell the right story, the first time.

But, we'll see. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Be sure and keep us posted on the status of these trade deals.

I hate to rain on your Harley parade, Sir, but they have not had a credible racing victory since the 1960's. I'm sorry to say that Harley-Davidson bikes are a triumph of style over content. True, they were good in their heyday (about 50 years ago) but times have changed and motorbike technology has improved radically since then. Not that Harley Davidson seems to have noticed. They are overpriced, overweight and still overrated.

Now, that said, there's nothing wrong with owning a Harley. To each their own and if that's what you enjoy, then by all means buy as many Harley's as you can afford. Harley has stumbled on a business model that works for them and certain bikes are even beautiful and I'd almost venture to call them works of art, but let's not confuse that big, heavy piece of rolling chrome with the true technical advancements that are being made by other manufacturers.

Now, let's get back on topic, shall we?

Not the point since I have never given my opinion on the idea of a US president helping big business in this way. My point is yet again the hypocrisy of the right by attacking Obama with lies (2 billion claim) and the fact that he is helping US business interests with the trip. Every President in the last 30 years at least, has used such trips to forward the interests of US business world wide. Bush did it when he went to the Olympics in 2008, his father did it a number of times in the 1990s and so on and so on.

This just another hyperpartisan attack on Obama and one based on an outright lie.

You've never admited to being wrong. It's still a 200 million dollar a day trip right?
