Most likely you are quite correct this and the other announced deals were generally prearanged

This trip is more about future deals like the possibility of selling India various nuclear power plants and equimpment, a possible large fighter jet sale (around $8 billion in sales)/

The fighter jet deal is the main focus as the US is pushing hard for the F16 or F15 while India is undergoing various test of fighters from around the world from the Eurofighter, the Rafale, the Mig 35 (I believe) and the US jets. That deal along with a stronger security relationship with India is the actual focus of this trip, the trade deals are just what politicians (even Bush did it) announce at these sort of meetings

So then Obama is lying about what he is doing. Why did Harley need Obama for this deal?

Trade deals like this are done by every damn politician, the deals are prearanged and announced with said politicians make trips to the other country. Bush did it, Canadian poltiicians did it, Chinese polticians do it, the Indian poltiicians do it, european politicians do it. They do it to cement good relations with the other country and for good PR back home. Harley needed Obama to ensue the deal got signed it may have been prearanged, but not certified untill the visit. It also provides a great deal of advertising for Harley in India, saving Harley some money on advertising. It is not like HD is going to have a strong brand image in India. Now quite a few Indians will have googled HD and looked at its products, from actual bikes to the various accesories that have the HD brand attached to it. Harley comes out ahead from having the deal announced at this meeting, Obama comes out ahead, and India does as well

Exactly my point. It WAS done here, with the bikes that Harley has been selling in India for about 2 years now. All those bikes have been assembled in the US.

NOW, the assembly will be done in India. Jobs here... going there.

    It's not rocket science.

The meeting was not necessary. The taxpayers lose with the inflated cost of Obama and his overinflated staff and friends and family we have to pay for.

it is not rocket science, you still ignore the fact that India has a large tariff on assembled bikes, meaning the bikes will now be cheaper in India, which should increase sales, which will increase the amount of parts HD has to make. As such HD will have a higher demand for manufacturing then otherwise

As you said it is not rocket science,

And again you miss the important part of this trip

SECURITY COOPERATION overall and regarding China, the potential sale of fighter jets, and nuclear technology.

This is a good outcome. Though I believe that the amount should have been higher. India is already a major player in Asia and in the future that role will just increase. We should increase our influences and friendship with India more than Eastern Europe or Europe as a whole.
