5,000 police and paramilitary personnel. 500 US Secret Services and FBI officials. 400 traffic officials.

A security blanket was thrown on Delhi, sanitising all routes and areas that President of the United States Barack Obama drove through or visited after he arrived in the Capital on Sunday.

As Obama’s cavalcade of 30 cars started from the Indira Gandhi International Airport and headed for the US Embassy around 3.40 pm, the Traffic Police blocked both carriageways for 13 minutes. The security arrangements remained in place as the US President later moved to Humayun Tomb, Hyderabad House and then ITC Maurya.

According to Delhi Police sources, security arrangement for Obama visit are four times higher than for any head of state, including India’s President.
This is protocol for US presidential visits. When Clinton visited Halifax.they shut down the highway and streets in town just for him.

The president is in a volatile place. He doesn't make security protocol.

Or do you think he does?

Other manufacturers make a wider selection of bikes for a larger audience. Harley hasn't stepped out of their niche in 50 years. Now, again, that's not a bad thing. Harley makes bikes for Harley riders. Harley is what those people want so Harley is what they buy, they don't look at the Honda or the BMW. The other motorcycle manufacturers compete based on who has the best new designs and innovations, because they are all competing for a larger chunk of the market, not just the small percentage that want to ride a Harley.

Harley does not have a monoply on the cruiser bike. Name a few Harley look-a-likes for me and I'll name 5 other bikes that same manufacturer sells that are completely different.

There are plenty of riders who prefer their VTX or their Shadow or their V-Max because it offers a great ride, comparable or better power, cheap maintenance and aftermarket doesn't break the bank just because it's got the Eagle stamped on it.

I'm not trying to convert you or tell you that your Harley isn't great, so there's no need to be defensive. I'm just trying to broaden your horizons so that you can see that there are plenty of other proven bikes and great manufacturers out there as alternatives for the person who isn't dead set on a Harley.

Sure, it provides a similar cruiser experience for a fraction of the price. That doesn't make the Harley a better or worse bike, just a more expensive one.

No it does not. Believe what you want and give you money to rich people in Japan and then claim how you care about this country.

Lol… did you just imply that I’m un-American for not spending my money on a Harley?

Let’s take a brief look at the facts, rather than resorting to rabid brand loyalty. The only Harley close to the Shadow in price is the lackluster Sportster. Stock for stock, the Shadow is by far the superior machine. The Harley rides lower, has an absolutely atrocious lack of suspension, uses a primitive belt drive, and relies on air cooling. The Shadow improves on all these flaws and still manages to keep a lower curb weight, translating into increased maneuverability, and still gets better gas mileage. I can tell you which bike I think would be more comfortable on long rides cross country or afternoons around town. Like I said, better product, lower price.

In a head to head shoot-out, Motorcycle Cruiser (The “Car & Driver” for hogs ) gave the nod to the Shadow as the better bike. I suppose you think they’re un-American too.

If I were to spend my money on a cruising bike, which I don't plan to (I prefer my toys to be fast,) it would be the best value for the money that I was putting down. (Hint: That’s not Harley) I believe in buying American to an extent, but American companies still have to make a competitive enough product to justify my cash on the barrel. Only an uninformed consumer buys a product based solely on its country of origin, without researching the rest of the facts.

Fine buy Japanese so they can buy more of America. As I said I buy American when ever possible and believe they are far better. I will bet my Harley will be worth much more than your Honda in 20 years if your Honda is still operable.
