Contrary to what you believe, it's very simple, yes or no.

For the purposes of our example, let's pretend the government has done significant study and determined that the new Chevy Volt is the safest and most efficient car out there. As such, because people can't be trusted to ensure their own safety, it has been decided that everyone must drive the Chevy Volt. Now, because it uses the new hybrid technology it's priced at about $41,000. Good news though, the government will save you some money because their research indicates that a complex user interface will be distracting while driving, so they've taken out the radio and any other multimedia/navigation options. Study also shows that silver is the safest color because of it's visibility under most road conditions, so all Volts must be silver.

See? Not very far-fetched. Now...I'll ask again. Do you have any problem with paying for and driving a Silver, base model Chevy Volt?
 
But that is indeed far fetched. extremely far fetched. Is there something wrong in dealing with the actual realities of the world we actually do live in instead of made up hypothetical extremes that do not exist?

I don't give a flying fig how you characterize it so that your own ego is served. I gave you an honest answer to an absurd question. Like it or not, it means nothing to me. You seem to get really put out when somebody does not follow the maze the way you designed it.

Actually, you didn't answer at all. You evaded, using every way possible to keep from having to give an answer that would make your previous argument invalid. I'll sum it up for you: You support government control in what you eat, but apparently not what you drive. Your duplicitous stance is noted, Sir.

Let's say you'd been in a coma for the last 5 yrs. You wake up and decide to take your nephew to McDonalds for a happy meal. You order the hamburger fries coke HM.
"Hey, where's the toy?" "Sorry sir, where you been, in a coma? The law prohibits me from giving you a toy with hamburger fries and coke. To get a toy you must purchase a meal of less than 600 cal. and less than 35% of that from fat." I don't know about anyone else, but after that I'd be afraid to go home for fear the temperature of my house and hot water would be controlled by the government too.

right on bro!!!! I remember when I went to buy a new car and I thought 20K was just too much for it. I told them I did not need that fancy government mandated windshield and good old fashioned glass would be okay if it saved me $800 bucks but they said "no way". They explained how people used to be cut to ribbons going through windshields and the new ones prevented a large percentage of that.

I told them I did not need those fancy seat belts that were government mandated if it saved me a cool grand but they also said "no way". They explained how before seat belts people had much higher rates of death in routine crashes and even with the older lap belts there still was injury.

I told them I did not need that fancy government mandated braking system and would gladly use the old fashioned brakes like my grandpappy used to have on the 52 Buick if it saved me $900. But they said "no way". They pointed out that the new brake systems cut braking distance down considerably and prevented skidding and the crashes that result from that.

So I had to borrow the money and get a big monthly note to pay in return for a car with lots of government mandated doodads that I did not want or need. Tyranny & Statism indeed. Where is our precious LIBERTY when we need it most?

Thanks for reading this. It took me while to type as I am recovering from a severe auto accident. The weather was bad and I ran into the back of a big semi-truck at 60 miles per hour. The front end folded like an accordion but the seat harness held me back and I only barely kissed the windshield instead of going through it. Even then I could have been killed but I was able to brake at the last few seconds and that did slow me down enough to avoid death.

I hope I recover enough to go the the big tea party rally for liberty to be held in the town public square next week. I won't be able to drive yet but I can get through on a city bus. I look forward to defending liberty and fighting for smaller government and less regulation of companies and the products they make.

hyperbole and hysterics. Comparing Auto safety to kids meal toys is as about a big of fail as one can muster. Kudos to you. :thumbs:
