LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One of the most controversial measures on Tuesday's ballot is Proposition 19, the initiative to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana in California. It was sure to be challenged, even if voters approved it. Some lawmakers had already been preparing to tax cannabis sales. The measure was defeated Tuesday night.

Yippee skippy! California will continue to flush millions of dollars investigating, arresting, and jailing non violent drug offenders, while neglecting a potentially rich source of tax revenue. And as an added bonus, an unregulated black market will continue to flourish and provide massive funding to violent criminal cartels both here at home and abroad. A true victory for the peop... wait, who came out ahead on this one?

Absolutely nothing is gained by keeping it illegal.
This type of stuff helps no one.
I was discovering that life just simply isn't fair and bask in the unsung glory of knowing that each obstacle overcome along the way only adds to the satisfaction in the end. Nothing great, after all, was ever accomplished by anyone sulking in his or her misery.

The only thing the law affects is who makes the money off of it... and that will continue to be the underground cartels.

    Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here by saying I think drug dealers have bigger concerns than voting. Especially considering felons cannot vote in California.

I thought I'd have to eat my shoes the day I found myself on the same side as Navy Pride...but here we are. I voted against the proposal because I'm not convinced that marijuana is safe enough to allow it's free consumption. On top of that, even if Prop 19 passes, it's still federally illegal and the law falls the second it get's challenged by the federal government as federal law trumps state law.
