Could you post a link to that study? I'd be interested in looking that over.

Proposition 19 to legalize marijuana defeated | abc7.com
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One of the most controversial measures on Tuesday's ballot is Proposition 19, the initiative to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana in California. It was sure to be challenged, even if voters approved it. Some lawmakers had already been preparing to tax cannabis sales. The measure was defeated Tuesday night.
The Associated Press called the measure defeated at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Doesn't cannabis destroy brain cells?
There is no conclusive evidence that suggests pot destroys brain cells, if you smoke it to get it in your system it may but If you eat it it wouldn't as far as I know. Believe it or not there are studies that have show Marijuana to help develop new brain cell growth in mice..
My uncle was a pothead. He has hardly any memory. I suspect a correlation.
Well people usually smoke it. I'm unsure about the eating part b/c of it entering the systemic system and then passing the blood-brain barrier and thus affecting the hypothalamus...
I certainly don't think cannabis improves intellect. There is nothing material that one can consume that can increas IQ. Memory, focus, concentration, mental stimulation/bloodflow... yes. But raw intellect? No. If so there would be far more interest in researching cannabis in the development of an actual IQ increaser. If cannabis was truly so effective at that, people would be flying to research, produce, buy, and use to improve their studies.
Where did you find this information? Can the rest of us see it?THC does not destroy brain cells. However it will coat them essentially with a "tar" that makes it harder for the synapses in the brain to fire off information back and forth, the more you smoke and the older you are the more likely this "tar" will not cleanse off as your body is more concerned after a certain age about keeping other parts of you going, let alone extra things it wasn't meant to do in the first place, however in order for it to have any kind of effect on you to make you slow or have memory loss like the fellow on the last page claimed about his uncle, there would likely have to be something else involved or an incredible amount smoked. If you eat to many cookies you could die from being a fatass, just like anything good in life just don't do it in excess.

It doesn't seem to say the same things you said it says.

specifically:
coating brain cells with tar

The terminal half-life of THC is from about 20 hours to 10 days, depending on the amount and potency of the marijuana used. This means that if you take one milligram of THC that has a half-life of 20 hours, you will still have 0.031 mg of THC in your body more than four days later. The longer the half-life, the longer the THC lingers in your body.
My problem is the people in charge of elections attempting to influence or bias an election by putting wedge issue propositions on the same ballots with political candidates. It's an attempt to draw out more voters to one side or another.
Who cares if that piece of paper failed? People smoke dope on the sidewalk in California. Marijuana has long been accepted on the left coast. It was just a way to draw the stoner's to the polls to vote against the conservatives. Didn't work! Neener! Neener!
The right does it too. Want to pull more rightwingers off the couch? Put a referendum on the ballot that allows queers to get married.
To me, that's voter manipulation and it should be outlawed.
Sure it did. Almost every Republican was defeated in California. The Democrats are finally learning to use wedge issues to bring people to the polls the way that Republicans have for years. 2012 is already being lined up with a lot of more liberal issues to get Democrats to the polls.
I think because pot is associated with hippies, hippies tend to be liberal, also associated with minorities also tend to be a bit more liberal, etc. I don't know one sound minded person in Kentucky, Republican or Democrat that thinks it's a bad thing to let people get a little high and not have to worry about pissing dirty. Want to know why people do hardcore drugs? Because pot, something that will just make you giggle a lot and eat a bunch of Doritos stays in your system for about 2 weeks to a month. Crack? about 2-3 days.
You make pot legal, you get rid of a lot of problems and the domino effect is savings to the tax payer.
Ummmm..... "pissing dirty" as you call it wouldn't even have to change if pot were legalized.
Businesses can still decide they don't want people who partake in the use of marijuana.

Are you cool with manipulating the voter turn out that way? Don't get me wrong, the day CA legalizes pot across the board will be a day I will celebrate. But don't you think that maintaining the credibility and fairness of our elections is a bit more important? Allowing one side to control the ballot, in order to draw more voters to their agendas, well, you might as well not have a vote at all.
True, the GOP has been manipulating the vote with wedge issues on the ballots for several years now. It really doesn't surprise me that they would. I have dogged them on it before. I would be a hypocrite not to dog out the leftwing for doing it too. Two wrongs don't make a right. This isn't the math that makes two negatives a positive.
I don't have a problem with pot as a medication for camcer........My aproblem is the abuse of medical pot that goes on in California........
It depends who is doing the studies..........Studies also say that pot eats brain cells......Someone made a joke about the reason prop 19 did not pass is because the pot users were to stoned to get out and vote.....Lot of truth there...........
