    On sexual immorality:
    1 Corinthians 7:2
"But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband"

    Matthew 5:28
"But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

    Mark 7:20-23
And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

    Homosexuality:

    1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

    Jude 1:7
Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

    Biblical source(s) (Rambam): Lev. 18:22; Deut. 23:18
Biblical source (Sefer HaChinuch): Lev. 18:22

    Leviticus 18:22

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

For a man not to have intercourse with another man. Relations between two women are not considered true intercourse, and thus female homosexuality would not be enforced with capital punishment under this commandment. Nevertheless, lesbianism is a violation of the rules against immodesty (see commandment -353), and is therefore also forbidden.

I like that. It tells you a lot about the nature of your God when he encodes sin into your DNA and then tells you to avoid it. That is the kind of absurdity that I find utterly delicious in this world.

We've beaten this dead horse enough in the past, I have no real desire to get into it again.

Those Christian denominations that view the Bible in a relatively literal fashion typically classify homosexual practices as sin. This would include this man's denomination, Baptist, in most cases.

Ultimately, whether he continues as a minister will be decided by his church, the members and the deacon board/board of directors, and perhaps by him if he decides to resign. Baptist churches are congregational in that they are controlled by their membership; there is no upper hierarchy that will decide whether this man is de-frocked or not, that's in the hands of his members.

Personally I think that is as it should be... but then again, I'm Baptist.

No one's forcing you to be a christian, you know.

You know that some Christians believe that Paul was the first man to distort the teachings of Christ and the Old Testament no longer applies to man since Jesus died for man's sins. Without Paul and the Old Testament, where does the argument that homosexuality is a sin have grounds in the Bible?

And they're clearly wrong, and are clearly deluded in the meaning of christ's death, for it goes against the words of christ himself, who was there from beginning.

Actually I took communion as a child. By my old church's doctrine that means I am forever a Christian no matter how much I may sin. I no longer have a choice in the matter, any sin I committ is absolved. I simply will sit in a lower house in heaven for my unrighteous and misguided deeds on Earth.

Darkwizard12 already touched on it but let me continue...

Matthew 19: 3-6 3 The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?"
4 And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,
5 "and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?
6 "So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."

He made man and woman for a reason, and says "let no man seperate." Not hard to understand.

Did he say that before or after he was ressurected?

    Interesting interpretation.

    He was talking about divorce.
