Obama, MythBusters to Test 'Archimedes Death Ray' in Push to Promote Science

None of that addresses why it should be considered to be an issue or why people should care.

I am guessing you've not had any personal involvement in the BSA? I have been involved on a personal level on and off for 15 years. Sorry if you disagree, but I find it a little annoying that the Honorary President of the BSA declined to speak at the 100th anniversary jamboree, especially when there is an established history of Presidents, back to Teddy Roosevelt, doing so.

But I guess that's just me.

To be honest, it doesn't matter, and Obama isn't the first president not to do it.

I was confused, but came in with the knowledge that more than likely it was an attempt to harp on math and science education. I was right. The message was right, but I question the end result in who or what they pick.

Intrinsically, I'm not against the President having some touches of Education Public Service Announcements, in fact, I am for them.

They already did the Archimedes Death Ray, and it was busted. I guess their revisiting it, but if I remember correctly they didn't leave too much room for a revisiting.
"I may not agree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler"
I may not be Hilter but are you a clone of Eva Anna Paula Braun?

Using modern technology like that used to concentrate sun light on a central location in a solar plant like the one outside of Barstow California would set fire to almost anything in seconds.

Obama is just trying to look like a normal person but it won't work for this Marxist now or ever.

Modern tech? They'll be using mirrors from the era Archimedes lived in.

And why did you quote and make a comment about my sig?

I know what they will use Eva, I saw the original failed attempts and I think they tried the use of polished metal which will never qork and they knew it before the first try.

Um, my name's not Eva.

I think the correct way to say that is it doesn't matter 'to you'. OR... are you saying your opinion is more important or 'correct' than mine or anyone's to whom this mattered?

Hey guys, consider for a moment how much of what MythBusters does is about:
  • Blowing stuff up
  • Stuff strapped to a rocket
  • Shooting stuff
  • Running stuff into other stuff
  • Dropping stuff from heights
  • Lighting stuff on fire
In considering what to do while the President of the United States is on the set with them, they probably said, "Okay, what sounds really really cool in principle but won't actually have any chance of resulting in our being charged with treason?"

Ta-da!

ETA: I mean, what the hell were they supposed to do, bring back the Ask a Ninja ninja and have him "teach" the President to catch an arrow between his hands?

How would anything that happens on Myth Busters be considered treason?

You know better than to miss with a Liberal. They have no sense of humor.

Which doesn't explain the disproportionate amount of liberally-minded people in stand-up or sketch-comedy. Sometimes people just don't like the jokes, is all.

Yeha, but the guys who draw in the bucks are the Right Wingers. Are there any Libbo comics with names bigger than Larry The Cable Guy, Dennis Miller and Bill Engval? I hope you're not going to use Janeane Garafallo as an example.

Hatuey, certainly isn't a case in point.

You are citing two men who benefitted greatly from the same tour, and some of the time, the same act. But, I concede your point on that. Dennis Miller's popularity on stand-up has faltered significantly over the years, perhaps as his views changed (an unfortunate side-effect of liberal audiences who simply have a hard time identifying with the man now), but he does have a radio show, and is still out there. Nevertheless, they are certainly a minority of the so-called "Great Names" of comedy presently or historically. The majority of those considered as the best comedians in history were mostly liberals, or those with a severe consideration for their interpretation of the first amendment, and perhaps socially liberal values.

And no, I do not like Janeane Garafallo nor would use her as an example. She can stay in left-wing circle jerk fests like Maher's show.

I was taking my point to an extreme.

My point is that they chose to do a myth that would have an extremely low risk to the President, thus keeping something bad from happening to him -- and to themselves as a result.

On the other hand, you'd definitely make the history books by being the guys who accidentally vaporized the first black US president with a death ray.

". . . Thus, today, the Discover Channel becomes the first broadcaster of educational material to reduce a head of state to ashes."

ETA: "The Attorney General called for the unconditional shut-down of PBS today, quipping, 'What, you think we want Pelosi's finger on the big red button?'"

A few name off the top of my head:

Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais, Jerry Sienfeld, Dane Cook,Dave Chapelle, Kevin Smith, Russell Peters, Woody Allen. Seriously, stop it. The 3 people you mentioned are unheard of outside of a very small demographic in the U.S.

Hatuey, certainly isn't a case in point.

Learn how to use phrases like 'case in point'.

Explain scientifically how you test for Marxism?

Is there a bible involved?

they take some blood from him, if it is red he is a marxist. Anyone with red blood is a commie
