Docket review pulls curtain back on procedure by Homeland Security
    By SUSAN CARROLL
    HOUSTON CHRONICLE
    Oct. 17, 2010, 10:21AM

In the month after Homeland Security officials started a review of Houston's immigration court docket, immigration judges dismissed more than 200 cases, an increase of more than 700 percent from the prior month, new data shows.
The number of dismissals in Houston courts reached 217 in August — up from just 27 in July, according to data from the Executive Office for Immigration Review, which administers the nation's immigration court system.
In September, judges dismissed 174 pending cases — the vast majority involving immigrants who already were out on bond and had cases pending on Houston's crowded downtown court docket, where hearings are now being scheduled into 2012.
Roughly 45 percent of the 350 cases decided in that court in September resulted in dismissals, the records show.
The EOIR data offer the first glimpse into Homeland Security's largely secretive review of pending cases on the local immigration court docket.
In early August, federal attorneys in Houston started filing unsolicited motions to dismiss cases involving suspected illegal immigrants who have lived in the country for years without committing serious crimes.
Instead of increasing the capacity of the courts, let's just let them go. I guess our immigrations law aren't worth enforcing.

Meanwhile, the politician who says we should raise taxes to pay for that increase in court capacity gets voted out...

I think Americans would stand behind money needed to raise capacity without a tax increase. here's a suggestion. Cancel the failed stimulus and use those left over funds to do this.

My best friends Son is on the front line as a border patrol agent in Nogalis, AZ. and this young man puts his young life on the line every damn day for you and me. People like Obama, and Nepolitano ignor the reality of the cost of illegals on our society and seem not to care about the lives lost because of illegals along the border and deep inside our nation.

Non sequitur. Just because a politician accepts money to help their district doesn't mean that it is hypocritical to be against the policy as a whole. Maddow is a hack.

The Obama admin collectively fined guilty businesses $12 million so far. Bush did even less. When we are fining corporations whose revenues are in the billions with these pithy amounts, not much is going to change. The government is kicking out immigrants at token levels to appease public perceptions, but their true actions are showing us that, at the core, they don't want to kick out illegals.

If Obama wants to beef up the IRS, he should go after all these businesses and see how much they've evaded in payroll taxes.
