If you know any thing about medicaid you know nothing will change the poor will still get substandard care and the rich will get the best. Look at the healthcare congress gets

Re: Reid on the Ropes in Nevada

while massively expanding the already overly strained, overly depended upon safety net, obamacare CUTS medicare funding by HALF A TRILLION dollars

McCain Loses Bid to Drop Health Bill's Medicare Cuts

    is THAT spin?

are the 1099's, the individual mandate, the obligation bankrolled on already bankrupt states to absorb TWELVE MILLION more americans into medicaid (the ghetto of health care) with NO federal backing, the INCREASED traffic thru er's, the difficulties in finding a doctor?

the pre existers, the portability, the keeping kids til they're 26---these are good ideas, we oughta keep em

    the rest has gotta go

1/4 of DEMOCRATS have come to see

POLL: Dislike of healthcare law crosses party lines, 1 in 4 Dems want repeal - TheHill.com

    is that spin?

And this makes it a good idea to expand every aspect of the federal government how?

Not that much has expanded, but take something like the tainted peanut butter we saw awhile back. This shows that sometimes it's a good thing to have regulations and oversight. We are the government, and we can work together to solve larger problems, using government as a tool. This isn't always smooth, but frankly, neither is the private sector, which also has it's share of stupidity and mistakes.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

I don't think that anyone here argues such a simplistic point as the analogy you try here. Regulation in a complex society like our own is a necessity. However, if you look at what the regulators said at the time of the 'peanut scare' here:

ďThe piece that hasnít come out yet is that peanut butter isnít like spinach or ground beef because it has a really long shelf life,Ē said Caroline Smith DeWaal, food safety director for the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Ms. DeWaal and other critics of the federal food safety system said that because peanut butter was considered a low risk for contamination, plants could sometimes go without inspection for a decade.

So regulation has its problems as well. But the key difference here is that you seem to argue that increased regulation for things like safety, and health, are no different from regulations designed to control a business from government. That I think is not correct.

Well, the birther stuff is a good start, but frankly all of it. America is going to cease to exist? That's incredible hyperbole. And Obama is no communism. Nothing Keyes says here is accurate or remotely sane.
