Texas judge to examine if executed man was innocent

personally, If I was wrongly convicted, I think i would rather be executed quickly than have to spend the next 30-40 years in prison.

That's easy to say from where you stand now.........

have you ever seen what goes on inside a prison? I just spent a year living in a freakin box in Iraq and that was bad enough. but to be locked up in a cell with no hope of release...no thanks. give me the needle.

One wrongful execution is reason enough to abolish capital punishment. In this case, where the governor intentionally blocked an investigation with his own appointees, who is responsible for this murder? It seems like people in government are immune to murder charges.

The whole system should be held liable.

This I do agree with whole heartedly.

They are definitely immune to it. I wish we would hold people in government accountable for this sort of thing. If we did, damn sure there'd be a lot of Texas DA's in big trouble.

The way our system of justice is set up is based upon the principle of for every guilty person in jail that 11 innocent go free or aren't convicted. When defense lawyers, prosecutors, and police put conviction rates above proving guilty beyond a reasonable doubt is where you run into trouble. I personally favor making those that were involved in the investigation, prosecution, and defense of an innocent person be held accountable with the penalty being whatever the innocent person was punished with. If an innocent person is executed then the cops, prosecutors, and defense lawyers should be executed for failing to do their jobs.
