Not really funny at all. Mertex doesn't want the facts, instead relying on the speculation of the whole thing. In a couple of years when the IRS still hasn't filed charges against Whitman for not paying the required taxes, Mertex will still insist upon her guilt.

Not at all. I was simply engaging in the same (if slightly more over the top) wild speculation that you were. I only indicated that you should do the math. That you have problems with arithmetic is not my problem.


Because it was cheaper than hiring an American to do the work, and the American would not take her abuse and not do as good a job. She's not the only one that has done it, why do they all do it?

Where was that cost savings again? She paid a higher than average salary for the job and according to all directly involved (lawyers, Meg, Nicki), the taxes were paid.

Nicki left her prior employer because she wanted more hours. Why do you think she would leave an employer because she wanted more hours, but not because she was being abused? Why would someone that has an awful relationship with her employer approach her with the admission that she was here illegally and expect any help? If Meg knew she was here illegally the entire time, why pay the going rates, taxes, and only fire her after Nicki's admission? If she knew it all along, wouldn't it have been far wiser to fire her while still contemplating a run for governor? Nicki's story doesn't even make sense.

The fact that SSN didn't act in response to Whitman's failure to sign the form or respond to their letter doesn't exonorate Whitman. And the fact that Diaz lied doesn't excuse Whitman, either.

Has Whitman been exonerated? When she is then you can claim that she was telling the truth, until then, you have no proof, only the snippets that Diaz showed her all the documents that would indicate she was legal. Of course she would, all illegals know what they need to get hired. Only a moron would take their word at it especially when they are getting red flags from government offices.

How do you know she was paying higher than average. No illegal is ever paid more than what an American would work for, otherwise Whitman would have hired an American. According to her lawyer, Whitman had her doing more than required, something she knows she wouldn't be able to pull on an American.

Meg fired her when Meg decided to run for office. I guess she thought that it would not come out.

Doesn't matter, it looks like people like Brown over Whitman. The outcome of this case will probably be a moot point in a few weeks.

But she's running against Jerry Brown, who according to Whitman's own poll has a favorable/unfavorable rating of 51-41 -- much better than Whitman's rating of 44-44.

Hey, it finally seems to be sinking in :applaud . The maid's $23.00 / hour salary was made public. Others in this thread researched it and located the average salary for that job in that location and discovered she was being paid well. She was certainly not being paid what an illegal immigrant would be paid. Unless you incredulously believe that illegal immigrant maids are being paid 23 per hour.

You do realze that Alred, while initially claiming that she will be seeking legal remedys, has admitted that she will not be bringing Meg to court for all of these alleged abuses and salary that the maid is owed. She admitted this while talking to Greta Van Sustren. a link to the interview is located earlier in this thread. Makes it seems like Alred made all of these claims for rather suspicious reasons, but knows there is nothign there.

So, let's see. The maid believed that Meg thought she was a highly valued member of the family that would love to help her with her problems, while mercileslly abusing her for the past 9 years. On top of that, the maid is more than happy to leave her prior job because she wants more hours, but is not willing to leave a job in which she's working alot more hours then she's being paid for and the employer is "abusing her". It just seems to all make so much sense. Thank you for explaining it so well.

In this case the damage to Meg Whitman's campaign by the false charges claimed the illegal alien who as it turns out is also guilty of multiple felonies and is now subject not only to deportation but a long stint in federal prison because of her "lawyer" Gloria Allwet has been done and it looks like Kalifornia is going to die a more sudden economic death than the rest of the Nation at Obama's hand because Brown leads in the polls.

Brown wants all illegals to get an education at our expense and the damn fools in Kalifornia are going to let it happen most likely along with Brown making the whole State open to Illegals.

And some people wonder why true Americans are pissed off?

They had better wake up while they can because one the downward spiral gets going it will take all the Liberals who are not at the top down the toilet with the rest of the proletariat.

She failed to sign the form. if she was 100% sure that she had a legal, documented employee, she would have signed the freakin form. She didn't sign it, which just makes it even more suspicious that she knew Diaz was illegal.

The fact is that Brown is beating her soundly - and in a couple of weeks you won't remember who Meg Whitmas was! She can go back and hire herself another illegal, because a billionaire like her shouldn't have to spend any more than she needs to, if she can get away with hiring illegals, and get the approval of the rest of the Republicans who claim to want illegals gone! Illegals won't cease being a problem until scumbags like Whitman quit hiring them!
 
What does it say about the state of politics in general or this forum specifically. Here we have a contest for the govenor of the largest state in the U.S. It has something like a $20 billion budget deficit. Unemployed and underemployed total about 22% and they have a shortfall in their pension funding of about $100 billion. Yet we have 260 posts on this meaningless issue.

People get the government they deserve.

I don't live in CA, and frankly, don't care who their governor is. Their state is a mess, and they keep voting into power the individuals that made it that way.

However, you still haven't answered - Meg paid the maid $23.00 per hour and, according to those directly invovled, all applicable taxes. I guess it's possible they just forgot to ask you for the facts of the case, but I doubt it. So, how did Meg profit from the endeavor of hiring a known illegal? Don't you think Meg would pay her less and probably skip on the whole "paying taxes" thing? Or do you think that meg knowingly hires illegals and pays full salary just for fun?

If she knew she was illegal then why would she ask for a SSN, driver's license, the word of the employment agency, etc.? Why go through all of that for someone you know is illegal? Your story makes no sense.

She did everything that the law requires! If a con artist gets $500 from you and then uses equipment that he purchased with that money to rob a bank, are you an accessory to robbery? Of course not! If you had no way of knowing, then how can you be at fault?

The point is that an employer who has every reason to hire only documented workers and thought she had but finds out to her horror nine years later that she is like the other employers she has demonized during her campaign for governor, an employer of undocumented workers.

The point is that until we have comprehensive immigration reform, simplistic blame the workers-, blame the employers-, blame everybody but me-style solutions just prolong the national ordeal and solve nothing.
 
Whitman is so far behind in the polls now, she's a goner.

Actually TMZ has the documents and have posted them showing that the maid did provide an I9, W4, SSN card and drivers license. Basically, you have a maid that, apparently lied about her imigration status, committed identity theft and, when the maid finally came clean, was fired. After being fired, and apparently for political reasons, she went to Allred (who has a history of this) and filed a complaint.

I would really like to see a Meg Whitman quote of her stating that employers that follow all of the laws and mistakenly hire an illegal should be decomonized. I don't reside iN CA, so maybe I missed it, but doubt it. If she did say that, I think that's a dumb posistion for her to take.
