Yes, because my number one qualifier for a governor is that they get close to their employees.
A governor that has no interest in his most personal employees most likely will have no interest in the regular folk of his state. Maybe you are okay with that, most people want a governor that cares enough about people. Knowing that they are not even interested in their closest employees would not sit well.
So, why would the social security department send a letter indicating that they can't match the (taxes) with the employee if Meg didn't pay the mone ? Additionally, if she hadn't been paying taxes, I have no doubt the IRS would have been all over it by now. Do you really think the IRS wouldn't be aware? That's what tripped up all of the other individuals in that list someone else posted about cadidates that got caught up in illiegal immigrant scandals.
The SSA said the SSN number submitted was registered to a different name. They sent another letter, and Whitman ignored both?
The maid also took vacation time and told Whitman she could not return to Mexico during her vacations. Wouldn't that also raise a red flag?
So you think she should have broken the law and engaged in racial profiling simply because she's a maid with brown skin and an accent? I'm just trying to pin down what you mean... BTW, you said it right here:
My statement just states the fact that she didn't speak English well, and that would have caused Whitman to question her background. That in no way indicates that all people that don't speak English well are undocumented, but if they are legal Americans they usually have a good reason for not speaking English well. And considering Whitman's position on illegal hiring, there is no excuse for her to be complacent in her own situation.
What did you mean if not that because Nicki didn't speak english very well, Whitman should have suspected?
It is mandatory for American kids to go to school, where they learn English. Anyone that doesn't speak English well is either from another country or dropped out of school before they learned it, and most likely have parents that speak a different language. They don't have to be illegal, but it would certainly raise a red flag, and someone in Whitman's position, as much as she has spoken out against hiring illegals would have been more sensitive to it.
The social security department did by sending a letter indicating, essentially, that they didn't know where to place these earnings. The IRS is essentially backing that up with the fact that nothing has happened regarding accusations of Meg not paying the taxes.
I haven't seen any information where the IRS is backing up that she paid taxes.
Even if she did, the fact that the SSN was questioned should have been investigated by the employer, Whitman. It is all rather confusing right now, because the immigration attorney is actually on the housekeeper's side and is trying to establish a good reason for her to remain in America. We will only know the truth once it is investigated further.
For one, I would have to say the statement by the immigration attorney indicating that the fact that Nicki has paid all taxes is fairly convinving evidence that even the social security taxes have been paid. Otherwise, what do you think he might have meant by "all taxes"?
Like I said, it might not matter that she was paying taxes. Where were the taxes going if the the name registered for the maid's SSN was different?
Also, another question, if Meg Whitman is so against illegals being hired, how come she didn't report her? All she did was fire her?
