Transgender senior can't be king

There is a recognized condition with recognized standards of treatment, which include gender reassignment, legally changing from one gender to another.

that's right, genius, and until that treatment is obtained and gender is reassigned SHE is still female and not a man. I have no problem with her being transgender. I have no problem with her getting gender reassignment treatment. I have a problem calling an apple an orange.

What does this disorder have to do with electing a girl as homecoming king?

His class obviously wanted him to be homecoming king and didn't care that he was born a she and still had girl parts.

Why does it matter anyway? It is just homecoming king and obviously the school was okay with her being a him for everything else he participated in, so this shouldn't have been an issue at all.

Everything if this "girl" sees herself a guy. As I understanding, the wanting a change begins at a very early age.

No one is claiming to be a quack. Quacks apparently are ignoring biology nor are their expertise is physical issues. Seeing how they deal with mental issues not physical issues they should be trying to cure the mental disorder instead of facilitating it with drugs/hormones and greedy plastic surgeons.

Thank you for proving my point.

probably because there is no known cure.

Being snarky doesn't change the fact that the effort at change starts at an early age, and often function in the other gender laong before change can be realized. And you don't have to bee a genius to kow this.

lol @ Oscar, we are talking about gender, not sex..What's the saying Gender is between the ears, Sex is between the legs.

I had an uncle who thought he was a Saint Bernard. We didn't put a collar on him and call him Fido.

There are places that recognize gender as how the person is living, not their physical gender or whether they have had surgery, or even plan to have surgery.

you don't have to be a genius either to realize that LEGALLY she is still a she...or maybe you do

wait, so now there is physical gender and mental gender?

Cure? What if the cure is to make the body what the mind sees it as? How do we know it isn't the body that is the mistake?

I'm just asking . . . .

Err so? Are not the genders equal under the law?

The "real world" has transgendered people in it. I know, my brother is one of them. My brother goes to his college classes as a woman. I have gone out with my brother as a woman, and although there was some staring, the real world accepts transgendered people.

I accept them, too. I shop at a store called Transformations in Arlington Heights, IL that's owned by a transgendered young man. Love 'im. That has absolutely nothing to do with electing a girl to a boy's title. What is so hard to understand about that?

Should we allow a man who believes he suffers this transgender disorder to play professional women's tennis? Professional women's golf? He's still a man. Playing against women. Just doesn't track. Would never happen. Take the hormones. Have the surgery. Then we've got a deal. THEN they're transgendered. Not before.

Legality has nothing to do with it. It has to do with acceptance of what this person will become. And again, it is no business of the school to meddle in. If it acts like a duck and walks like a duck, leave it alone.

Gender is sex. They are not two separate things as you keep claiming they are.

1 : SEX 1
2 : the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex

The 2 means a different definition. In otherwords, it can apply to sex, but it can also apply to the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex.

The school set the rules. Period. "Elect a boy for king. A girl for queen." No ducks involved.

If the school does not meddle then the kids grow up to be morons who think its okay for Jean to be Jenny, Johnny to be a duck or Vicky to be Vincent and then force the rest of society to play along with this fantasy by letting state legally recognize someone as something they are not.

BTW, all those comparing people who think they are animals to transgendered, these arguments are no more genuine than those arguments that try to place same sex marriage along the lines of marrying an animal. A person doesn't just get a brain injury or lose their mind, and decide that they want to be the different sex. And from what I know of my family, I'm pretty sure transgendered people are born that way and it is at least somewhat genetic. Transgendered people don't have an unrealistic belief that they are a different species or can do impossible feats that can get them hurt, they just feel like they are the other gender of our own species from what they were born. Some are heterosexual and some are homosexual, there are probably even some bisexuals out there.

But that's the thing, normally a person has all the right parts. We're talking about that 0.01% that doesn't, though.
That makes about as much sense as "schizophrenics were simply born in the wrong reality."

What we've got is a girl who thinks she's a guy. It's a mental disorder.

you mean like the acceptance that a fetus gets of the human that it will become?

Kind of foolish to sit there and say were not talking about sex were talking about gender when gender is defined as sex.
