What about that "will of the people" thing you used when talking about Prop 8 in california? It's like almost 80% of THE PEOPLE who support a DADT repeal now. You say "oh you didn't serve so it doesn't affect you." Well, two dudes marrying doesn't affect me either but apparently WILL OF THE PEOPLE is good enough for banning that, in your opinion. And if some soldier is so bigoted that he can't fight beside a gay man, isn't the bigot the problem? Let's kick him out instead.

Imagine if someone told you, "Your kind shouldn't be allowed to defend out country." Wouldn't you find that an insult to the highest degree?

I don't have to link them I lived them in addition the thousands of gays discharged have been since DADT was implemented has been cited many times in threads like this and you kmow it..........sorry I won't play your silly games..............

2) Since when do you have the right to expect things to stay the same during your entire time in the military? If a soldier enlists during peace time and then we fight a war, they aren't allowed to quit just because they wouldn't have signed up had they known they'd be called upon for war.

try again, I worked for the government for 46 years retiring in 1998.........My main job was funding the CVN (air Craft Carriers) for the their shipyard overhauls......in this capacity I dealt with military people on a daily basis........

The military is a special case in my opinion.

And I respect your service and thank you for it. However, you must realize that a lot has changed socially in this country even since 1998 and it continues to change all the time. Like I said, society will continue to progress. It just takes time.

How exactly is it social experimentation? All of this trouble is based on the fact that some people have negative views of homosexuals and that many are worried that enough people have such a negative view that allowing gays to serve openly would disrupt something. However, views change, people adapt, society progresses.

It does not affect those people....it affects only the people who are serving............

What really sucks is that now a days, these old people are largely the most unproductive, non contributing members of society.

The only reason any politician listens to them, is because they vote more often than anyone else.

If people my age would just vote in better numbers things could be so different, so quickly. It's kind of depressing.
