Fresh off her victory in Delaware, GOP U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell is riding a wave of campaign cash but also internet infamy, thanks in part to her controversial statements -- most notably on masturbation -- in the late 1990s on Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect."

On Friday, Maher released on his new HBO show, "Real Time," an unaired clip of O'Donnell admitting to a brief dalliance with witchcraft.

"I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. I dabbled into witchcraft. I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do," she said.

"One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it. I mean, there's little blood there and stuff like that," she said. "We went to a movie and then had a midnight picnic on a satanic altar."

I personally don't see what the big deal is here - I mean, who hasn't dabbled in witchcraft at one point in their youth? One night in college years ago, I conjured a demon from the 2nd circle of hell using nothing more than some incense and an Ouija board, which devoured my roomate's hamster, smoked all his cigs, drank all his beer, and took his best porno tape. Hopefully Ms. O'Donell's experiences with witchcraft were more mundane than mine.

Yeah, shes pretty much a loon.

For crying out loud what's the big deal she was just a kid and she didn't go knowing what was up.
BFD. Big freaking deal

I suspect that Christine O'Donnell is one of those none-too-bright individuals who is becoming so enamoured of her newfound celebrity that she'll say anything- anything- to get a reaction.
What a trip that must be: to suddenly have one's every banal utterance- every opinion, every confession of youthful folly, every detail of one's life- making national headline news.

As she becomes more and more hooked on this feeling, I suspect her "revelations" about herself and her life are only going to get wackier and more entertaining.
I, for one, am on the edge of my seat.

She just hung out with people that did that for a short time, so if this is like Obama's friends and associates, then the media shouldn't care who she hung out with.

But since she has an R next to her name, she's screwed.

They probably have a theme song already picked out for her :):

it's not like she snorted coke or anything.

It's amazing how much Lefties give a **** about what Conservatives did as kids.

But it's amazing how little they look into say... Obama's past. That stuff didn't matter, all that 20 years in a Black Liberation Loon's church, all that time in Drug Culture, his childhood....

Well...that would require a little thing called integrity

So you're admitting that Obama's time in that church doesn't matter. Good to see you be reasonable.

obama was not a lad when he launched his first campaign aside dr's ayers and dohrn in hyde park

and he was middle aged by the time he dumped his spiritual mentor of 20 years, the man whose inspired sermonizing provided the audacious title for barack hussein's first book

it is what it is

happy halloween

some kinda quirky quotations from young mr coons, lifted from the politico piece posted above

"distrustful of american power and willing to question the american notion of free enterprise"

"the ideal of america as a beacon of freedom and justice, providing hope for the world, wasn't based on reality"

"my own favorite beliefs in the miracles of free enterprise and the boundless opportunities to be had in america were largely untrue"

of course, he was only kidding

But since she has an R next to her name, she's screwed.

You're right. She's toast.

And, a picnic on an altar? No, I think probably something a lot more naughty, especially since there was blood.

Lady's fricky. Republicans don't like that in their women, not in public anyway.

It actually is a big freaking deal - to a lot of people. . . people railroaded Obama (still do) for his Muslim ties from his childhood. People also railroaded him for not having a flag lapel pin and for toss a rose the wrong way.

This is funny: an earnest, bewildered wiccan/pagan tries to make sense of Christine O'Donnell's story of her "date" on a "witchcraft alter".

Speculations on Christine O'Donnell and Witchcraft - A Pagan's Blog

I like this:

"What of the sexual connotations in having a "date" "on" an altar? While the Great Rite is sometimes used in Wiccan rituals, it is always done between experienced people serving as High Priest and High Priestess. To do a semblance of such a sexual ritual on "a date" is akin to a Catholic having wine and cheese spread on a communion wafer or a Protestant masturbating to the Song of Solomon.

O'Donnell also said she did not know it was an altar. I simply have no idea how this makes sense. Altars are pretty obviously altars, or if disguised, they are not things upon which people sit, have picnics. In addition, we Wiccans do not practice blood sacrifice, and so her reference to blood makes no sense in a Wiccan context.

nonsense, republicans adore her, even in delaware, where gop turnout last tuesday was 400% over 06's offyear primary

State Of Delaware - Elections Results

2006 Senatorial Republican Primary Election Results - Delaware

worry

witches are coming

It doesn't worry me. I think its funny.

Was the witchcraft known about before the primary?

Will they adore her as much after this gets around?

Did she win in large part thanks to Beck/Palin/Tea Party backing? The people at Beck's 8/28 restoring faith rally? They aren't the type who approve of witches.

Of course, she isn't a witch, but add that perception to her other problems and she doesn't look like a decent candidate to me.

So, then she ways the same as a duck? BURN THE WITCH!

Maybe her date wanted to earn his wings. Where better than on a wiccan altar?

Whoops:

On September 15th Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, CREW, issued a statement concerning Christine O’Donnell.

“Ms. O’Donnell has had no discernable job for several years, and instead has lived the life of a professional candidate, using the generosity of her campaign donors for her support,” said Melanie Sloan, CREW Executive Director. “That may just be freeloading to most people, but it’s embezzlement for a federal candidate.”

“Ms. O’Donnell has demonstrated a disturbing pattern of fraud, lies and fiscal irresponsibility. On her campaign website she claimed to have graduated from a university years before she actually received her diploma – a mere two weeks ago. The IRS slapped liens against her to the tune of over $11,000, and records show that she has been essentially unemployed.”

“Rather, she has lived in her campaign office and makes a profit by renting out rooms – in clear violation of campaign finance law. Ms. O’Donnell also lied when claimed she had won two counties in her 2008 Senate race against Senator Biden and when caught, lied again claiming the two had tied. In essences, Ms. O’Donnell has demonstrated a total disregard of ethics and integrity.”

What are they thinking, these tea partiers? :doh
Are they truly stupid enough to put idiots like this up for public office?
All they're really doing is screwing the GOP; they couldn't be doing it better if we Dems were paying them.

Its a riot, isn't it?

These things are what I meant below about her 'other problems.'

I guess they vetted her about as thoroughly as they did Sarah Palin.
