Christine O'Donnell: 'I Dabbled in Witchcraft'

And would you want those american to be a senator?

Yes, as a matter of fact.
I'm sick of the type we have now. Millionaires who do everything they can to avoid paying their taxes, to the point they actually cheat on them. I'm sick of the ones who get sweetheart deals.
Funny liberals scream at the republicans for not caring about the poor. Not caring about the people who can't pay their student loans and have their homes foreclosed on. Where's your compassion for O'Donnell?

She is for fiscal restraint, smaller government, repealing the health care bill, and is against cap and trade. I trust her to vote that way.
I'm not going to hold what she said on Politically Incorrect years ago, against her. It's a comedy/ entertainment show, and she seems to have succeeded in either being funny or entertaining. Apparenly Maher must have thought so to invite her back so many times.
let me make sure i understand you
your previous post indicated she should not be considered someone to be taken seriously while she was on politically incorrect 22 times
but now - after she has been found lying about her education, accused of using her campaign contributions for personal purposes, had her home placed in foreclosure, and unsuccessfully sued her former employer, a very conservative non-profit, for $6.9 million, you want us to believe that she has the mettle to be elected a U.S. senator
what surprises me is that i am even surprised by such an endorsement now, after the shrub, cheney, libby, rumsfeld, and the assortment of reich wing garbage inflicted on the American public

She was on Politically Incorrect when she said all this, right? Have you ever watched it? To get invited on 22 times I think you would have to be somewhat entertaining, but not necessarilly to be taken seriously.

Oh hells bells, is this seriously the best that the opposition to O'Donnell can do? They have so little real dirt on her that they have to go digging 10 or 20 years into the past?

How about we focus on, oh I don't know, something more recent? Like the accusations about how she's spending her campaign money?

Dirt! Dig up the diiiirt!

What else happened a looong time ago for our beloved (or hated?)

Clinton smoked but didn't inhale.
Byrd inducted new members into the KKK
Palin was a beauty-pagent-person
Heck - 20 years ago clinton was president. . . dayum.

Was she campaigning while on PI years ago?
I think you should check into Coons shady background and then you tell me who you would choose.
Second thought, never mind. If you think Obama is doing a good job, you would want a Marxist in the seat no matter what else was in his background.

People should be permitted to be stupid as kids, teenagers, and (very) young adults.

I'm not a Clinton fan, but I never knocked him over the pot.

I'm not a Palin fan, but I never said she couldn't do the job because she took part in a beauty pageant or made fun of her because of her pageantry.

And so on.

She is for fiscal restraint...

Well then perhaps she should've demonstrated that by practicing it in her life, instead of living far beyond her means and accruing a bunch of debt she could not and probably never intended to pay back.

That's the voice of reason.
Which doesn't vote as often as the voice of stupidity.

Obama (in 2008 interview): "Yeah, I inhaled. That was sort of the point."

Only if there is evidence that said politician has matured since than. I am pretty sure she still has the same kooky beliefs.

I think it's more a question if there's evidence they haven't matured. You can't really hold someone responsible if the press doesn't think that reporting on how well someone is doing is gonna sell.

If your are talking about being a self described "bearded Marxist," it's BS. Coons was a college Republican and went clean shaven to Kenya. He returned with a beard and had decided he was now a Democrat, so in jest that's what his friends called him - a "bearded Marxist." And he wrote an article about in the college newspaper titled “Chris Coons: The Making of a Bearded Marxist.”

It's pathetic how the right will twist anything for political advantage,.

It's refreshing these days to read about a candidate with no sign of the words socialism, communism, marxism as a good thing. glo

Political positions

O'Donnell is known for her vocal opposition to abortion and pornography
Abortion and stem cell research
O'Donnell opposes abortion, including in cases of rape and incest.[18] She would allow abortion with the family's consent, if the woman would otherwise die.[68] O'Donnell opposes human embryonic stem cell research [12] human cloning,[18] and research into cloning of monkey embryos.[30]
Entitlements
O'Donnell has said the first thing she wants to do when elected is to vote to repeal the health care legislation enacted by Congress in 2010.[70][71] O'Donnell would raise the age for receiving Social Security benefits.[68]
Environment
Blocking cap and trade legislation will be one of her first priorities. [15][70]
Fiscal policy
O'Donnell has said that she will never vote to increase taxes.[72] Since the summer of 2010, O'Donnell has contended that "America is now a socialist economy", defining a "socialist economy" as one in which "50% or more your economy is dependent on the federal government."[73] O'Donnell emphasized fiscal integrity in her campaign kickoff saying, "Voting to spend money we don't have has become the appealing option for too many politicians. The men and women of America know this is not sustainable."[45][74] O'Donnell opposes Congressional earmarks
Gun rights
The National Rifle Association endorsed O'Donnell,[53] saying she "will be a strong voice in fighting ongoing efforts by anti-gun politicians to dismantle the Second Amendment

Okay well that has absolutely nothing to do with my question.

Since when did the US federal government spend 50% of the US GDP?

Since when is using campaign funds to support your personal lifestyle fiscal integrity

Unlike the title of this thread, Coons wrote about his change of heart toward America's free market after his trip to Kenya changed him.
O'Donnell embraces Christianity now. Does Coons embrace the free market?

O'Donnell opposes abortion, including in cases of rape and incest.[18] She would allow abortion with the family's consent, if the woman would otherwise die.

So, the woman's life would be subject to her husbands consent?

[68] O'Donnell opposes human embryonic stem cell research [12] human cloning,[18

I see no problem with this as I am not supportive of those initiatives.

and research into cloning of monkey embryos.[30]

That one is a bit ... weird.

Entitlements
O'Donnell has said the first thing she wants to do when elected is to vote to repeal the health care legislation enacted by Congress in 2010.[70][71] O'Donnell would raise the age for receiving Social Security benefits.[68]

Nothing inherently wrong with those positions as I can see the logic in them even if I do not agree with the first part. (I agree with raising the age for SS)

Environment
Blocking cap and trade legislation will be one of her first priorities. [15][70]

My jury is still out on climate change. So I am neutral on this.

Fiscal policy
O'Donnell has said that she will never vote to increase taxes.[72]

No issue there from me, even though I think taxes are too low for the highest income earners, but I won't take issue as I see taxation as a minor issue.

Since the summer of 2010, O'Donnell has contended that "America is now a socialist economy", defining a "socialist economy" as one in which "50% or more your economy is dependent on the federal government."[73]

Is there any empirical proof for this statement?

O'Donnell emphasized fiscal integrity in her campaign kickoff saying, "Voting to spend money we don't have has become the appealing option for too many politicians. The men and women of America know this is not sustainable."[45]

I agree that we need to do better in balancing the budget.

[74] O'Donnell opposes Congressional earmarks

Ear marks are such a small % of federal outlays thats its not really worth bringing up. We should be looking at nondescretionary spending first.

Gun rights

I do not support or oppose gun rights, so I don't care about this.

I think it's 40%. Pretty darn close to socialism.
She says what she did was legal.
Personal lifestle? By that you mean, having a roof over your head? From what I'm gathering that's pretty much how it was. She used campaign funds to use part of her apartment for a campaign office or something like that.

US federal government spending is equal to about 24% of the GDP of the US

Yes she used campaign funds to pay for rent. Or at least that is the charge. Which I believe is illegal in the US.

The problem I find with ear marks is that they are used as a way to buy votes.

Using campaign money to pay for your living expenses is a pretty big deal. It is similar to an employee who uses company money that they are not entitled to for the same purposes.

I stopped reading after page 2, so forgive me if this has already been said. Who cares if someone dabbled in any other religion? I think those expressing shock or dismay have a lot to learn about tolerance themselves. First, witchcraft is not satanic nor is there blood involved, so I do believe she has no idea what kind of ceremony she attended. Again, who cares?

I said this on another board earlier. If Conservatives have any sense, someone will stand up and say, "Wiccan is a loving religion, and Wiccans are welcomed in our party."
