And suppose this lack of funding thing has no hope of being rectified...

So this was one big game then - one nice wheeze to stir up the kafr, have the wheezy liberals scream like air raid sirens at any dissenting voices on their behalf, plus have the oppertunity to play the wronged and abused victim to a self-righteous and highly volatile Muslim world.

.....And the big issue here is a preacher threatening to burn scrap paper in protest.....!

Seems to me like it's you guys who are the ones in a frenzy here. Liberals would read a story about building a mosque in NYC and think "Oh, sounds like a good location. I wonder what the weather will be like today? *turns page*"

edit: Also, I'm having a hard time coming up with a compromise between "build mosque here" and "not build mosque here."

What you don't think that is a rational position? "You can't build it 3 blocks away but you can build it 5 or 7 or 10", is perfectly reasonable. *facepalm*

If it wasn't hurting American freedoms, it might actually be funny.

The close proximity of the carbuncle to Ground Zero, the feeling of divine self-righteous indignation the imam feels whilst refusing to seriously consider another location in a place less controversial is teh issue liberals just don't care about.

Merely shows how out of touch they are.

... And hypocritical too, as I doubt they would have been so careless over something rather similar to the fundamentalism and death creed blighting the place:

Well said. When I first read about this I didn't think anything of the location. Afterall, we were attacked by Al-Qaeda (who like to think they are fighting for God), not Islam itself. I realize some people think we were attacked by Muslims, so this is insensitive to put an Islamic Center near GZ... but Al Qaeda does not represent Islam.

To those who think they understand Islam as a violent religion but haven't read the Quran or even talked to a Muslim person before... I find it a bit odd that these people can claim they understand the Islamic religion.

The violence you see on TV and read in articles is a very narrowed view of the world. Those are the stories that bring in viewers/readers. And these actions are usually done by select groups of people.

Besides, if 1.5 billion Muslims were violent Christian hating people... we'd be in massive Religious World War with every Muslim right now. Not to mention nearly everyone in Iraq and Afghanistan would be fighting against us. Not to mention we'd have violent attacks in the U.S. every day. There are around 2-3 million Muslims in the U.S.! Why aren't they attacking us if they are part of the "violent" Muslim religion?

Al Qaeda does not represent Islam.
It's an agent of it though.

It's true that only a few Muslims plant bombs. But a great many more are supremacists, as I outlined earlier referencing articles which found 1/3 of British Muslims want Sharia Law drip-fed in and who sympathise with bombers, etc. The Muslim Council of Britain have published papers demanding schools adjust their entire educational rotas around Islamic rituals and Muslims always demand this or that special concession - like the Muslim Parliament, Sharia Banking and other crap.

There is indeed mammoth friction out there. But to hear the liberals talk you'd think it was just nasty old Yankee or Limey picking on 'em alll the time, when in fact all we tend to do is complain to those who don't listen.

Ah, yes. The site of 911 is hallowed ground. We cannot have an Islamic cultural center there, because it IS hallowed ground. So let's put a strip club there. Let's put some porn shops here too. How about stores that sell lingerie and BDSM paraphernalia? And liquor stores? You bet. Nothing is too good for the memory of those who died in 911.

You know, the hypocricy, along the outright bile of hatred here, is so ****ing thick you can cut it with a knife. Is porn really the way you want to remember 911 victims? Or is the argument against a mosque, on the grounds that it would insult 911 victims' families, just a cover up for the REAL reason, namely racism and bigotry?

Porn is rather seemy and liquor gets you drunk.

But nowhere in the licensing laws does it say you are worthy of special trade concessions or better quality stock if you murder in the name of Carlsberg or Granny Fanny.

Tend to agree. Thinking more and more that this Imam is dumb like a fox. Suspect he may end up with real spiffy mosque/community center at a different location.....on somebody else's dime.

Lets not forget now he has ties to Muslim 9.11 truthers
