A 'talking point' is a broad, usually overgeneralized way to sum up a policy with an often misleading one liner like "death panels" or "job killing bill" or "cap and tax"...

Reminding j-mac that GOPs voted against the stimulus, then went after money for district projects they later took credit for is keeping it real.

And of course when their speaking to groups of teachers and police that got to keep their jobs, I'm sure they never mention, "If it were up to me, you'd all have been laid off."

Great answer. 3,888 posts and all you can say is "you do it too!" Good enough for me.

Just ignore him, everyone else does.
The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

No a talking point is just it says. Something that is put out and then repeated when talking about the topic. This was used over and over when the stimulus package was attacked.
