Re: Florida pastor calls off burning of Qurans

In a climate where all concerns are ignored over a mosque built on a warzone, some people would be likely to protest in a more extreme way to have themselves noticed.

And the bullheaded arrogance and stubborness of the Muslims involved, caring not one jot for anything but their beloved extremist-funded eyesore, does them no credit.

Indeed, on a much smaller scale, people in my town are not best pleased at the knowledge that the butcher shop had to close because its proximity to the new mosque offended its new occupants.

Wherever they go there's trouble, with much victim-playing when the stuff hits the fan.

    It's what's taught in Islam:

Qur'an (3:54) - “And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers.”

The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means deceit. If Allah is deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same.

Yeah the Abrahamic God is a harsh b**ch alright.

I think this guy had every right to do what he was gonna do.

He didn't have to call it off, and before you start saying well... now the Imam should call off the Islamic Cultural Centre in New York. He shouldn't.

Both have the choice to say what they will, or will not do.
Nope! Calling off the mosque job is exactly what Imam Rufus should do. It has to be a two way street, or it will. never. work.

If he pulled off getting the mosque moved, he's a great man, and I was wrong for doubting him.

Yeesh, this is quickly approaching corny TV drama territory. I'm almost half expecting the pastor and the imam to realize their forbidden love for each other.

I would wholeheartedly agree with you if this were a case if our government had been involved, or a much larger organization than this 2 bit backwoods preacher. If one was to go by your way of thinking, then any fool could threaten to blow up a building, and should automatically get whatever they want for NOT doing it.

That's exactly why the Liberals are trying so hard to appease the Muslims; so they don't radicalize and blow us up.

That's not my way of thinking.

But the preacher WASN'T blowing up a building, just burning some scrap paper.

The decision to build this mosque was always going to be inflammatory.

yet you feel the Imman should give the preacher what he wants because the preacher decided not to burn the holy books? Can you please explain the difference? You said he now has to do for the other guy. You are condoning blackmail?

Oh yes it was going to be inflammatory. I personally feel with all the outcry, he would be better off moving elsewhere, although I think the outcry is a bit overblown. But it would be a wonderful gesture if he put it somewhere else. I do not however, think that his decision to move or not to move should have anything at all to do with the idiot in Florida.
