Obama to Call for $50 Billion Spending on Public Works

Tell us why Democrats authorized that war? You really have some outrage over freeing 25 million people and preventing another attack on this country. How did the Iraq War affect you? Did you serve? Did you lose someone there? I had three family members there and they say we did the right thing. Give me the counter argument.

Yup. He knew he was inheriting a mess, and he still ran and got elected, and makes every effort to keep his campaign promises.

I think it is probably easier before one takes office, to make said promises. Once you get in and find out all the parameters and roadblocks and games that go on - yeah. Good times.

I don't envy him.
 
Obama Raised the deficit ...yes... to prevent a major depression and the bailout should've ben larger and who the hell knows, that may be the reason why its not working.
Second, many countries have higher debt to GDP ratios and have stable economies
Third, whats a viable alternative to a bailout? Liquidate the government and plunge the nation into anarchy?

Also, the economic crash was not obamas fault. Unless you can cite some research that directly enumerates what actions he took before he became president caused it. As far as I can remember they withheld the information that pointed to a major recession during the election to not sway the voters. [edit]

At least Obama burns money on the economy and not on crusades for legacy and empire.

My nephew served in the rangers in the main offensive over there, Lots of action. Back in Afghanistan in the SF. He says the same thing

I wonder if our tax hiking friend supported the dem war on poverty that spent trillions and created more dem voters but didn't get rid of poverty at all. Indeed, getting rid of poverty would be a death knell for the dem party

Tell me exactly what the taxpayer was paying his salary for if he didn't know the mess he was inheriting and what part did he play in creating it? He wanted the job, you are right about that, but has made it worse unless you think rising unemployment, 3 trillion in debt, and declining GDP growth is a good thing.

My thanks to your nephew, I had a nephew in the Marines, another that was in Army Intelligence, and another in the Air Force. The Marine saw some major action, the one in Army intelligence will tell you the story the media never will on the information that they found in Saddam's palaces.

My bet is that yes spending in the name of compassion justifies any tax increase even though it never solves an actual problem but it does give political power.

Hell no, but the govt should be willing to prosecute when a shyster gets caught. A poor dude with a saturday night special robs a store of a few hundred bucks and gets 15 years, a smart dude with a degree in business uses his brains to steal a few dollars each from millions of "clients" and he gets applauded.....
According to the news, many small investors are leaving wall street, why do you think that is happening?

I served in Vietnam. One thing I did not understand, why were there so many young men in civilian clothes in Saigon riding up and down the streets on their nifty thrifty honda fifties, many with girls riding on back? Why weren't THEY fighting that war? We took out Saddam, why are we still there? Freeing 25 million? I guess gratitude is a foreign idea to them....

Just as I thought, you haven't a clue, the bank bailout was created and signed by Bush in October 2008. Obama voted for that bailout and spent 350 billion of the 700 bill that Bush left him. Most of that money has been paid back, so where did the money got? Was this a relative of yours.

Yes, but not if this spending continues. Debt to GDP will be 100% in the not too distant future all because of Obama spending. Where do you get your information that their economies are stable? Both Germany and France are abandoning Obama style economic model.

Your time line is really screwed up and you have a short term memory, we knew about the banks in October which was prior to the elections. Half of TARP was spent by Bush and the other half by Obama. In the past, it was easy for politicians to create money out of thin air to jump start the economy. The problem today is that we have grossly overextended ourselves, and all the extra money for projects is going to do is make the dollar a little more worthless. Granted, jobs will be created, but at what price? Inflation is a hidden tax, a stealth tax, and probably the most onerous of all taxes in existence.

It was the Obama Stimulus that was passed by a Democrat Congress and was supposed to grow the economy 4% annually and keep unemployment from exceeding 8%. If it was too small, who is to blame? I don't think it was too small at all, just directed to the wrong people. It was supposed to go for shovel ready jobs but instead went to bailout out unions. It has been claimed that it saved jobs but there is no proof of that yet Obama supporters still support him, why?
