Obama to Call for $50 Billion Spending on Public Works

Federal spending on the war effort and public works is what got us out of the Great Depression.

It's called jobs people. When people have money, they spend it and the entire economy rebounds.

So....perhaps we should stop the government from stealing the money from the people who have it to fund programs we don't need simply because the people working on those programs will vote for Democrats?

It's not like new money or new wealth is being created....oh, no. This is just re-distributionist socialist nonsense from an avowed Marxist seeking to provide a talking point for his party members before the November elections in the hope that he might manage to retain the Senate, anyway.

btw I realize you think making money is a crime

and at least I don't call myself something I am not

Moderate my six

EARNING money is not a crime, but the way some of it is being made should be. Wall Street is a rigged game, the insiders skim off the top for themselves. Works in other business ventures as well. Want to make money in real estate? It is best to be a realtor or borker. Insiders dealing with other people's money are rarely honest for very long. Likewise politicians...they may start out with honorable intent, but the opportunities for corruption are many, and those with ethics are few....
As for my being a moderate, don't worry about it, I almost always vote conservative....but I will never vote for the ubercons, the far right selfish greedy corporate/business whores. I have plenty of money, more than many of the "conservatives" I know. They may know how to earn, but they don't know how to spend conservatively....

the people you are talking about generally vote dem. Hardly far right. You think Goldman Sucks etc are Far right? WTH do you think the former Senator and Governor of NJ came from-the one who spent 60 million to win the office in the first place? How about Timothy Geithner-the tax cheat and obama slurper? Far right my 6

Who is bringing up egypt? We are rebuilding IRAQ.

What does Iraq have to do with anything? How do you--as a seperation of church and state Liberal--feel about tax money being sepnt to rebuild religious buildings? Why not spend that money here, in the United States?

Obama didn't even make honors at Columbia meaning if he were white his chances of getting into Harvarrd law were less than 5% and he sure didn't have any other outstanding achievements when he applied. He did graduate MCL from HLS though. whether the grading was "blind" is a major question though. Then again Mitt Romney was 1st in his college class (he was top of his class at Stanford as well, but married during his mission and then transferred to BYU) and was top of his class at the Harvard B school as well as graduating from Honors from HLS.

If academic achievement was the issue in 2008, Romney had no peers.
Romney married after his mission.....
I could have voted for Mitt, but the GOP decided to promote the old geezer instead. I could have voted for McCain back in his day, but the GOP promoted the young dope, Bush. Timing is everything, and the GOP is out of sync in a big way.
I doubt the evangelicals will ever accept Mitt, regardless of his achievements. Too bad that the religious right is so wrong about so many things...bigotry is strong in the GOP, regardless of their denial....

you are probably right about the bible thumping brain dead

If they were so sure about God they should vote for whom is best on earth while on earth and save the other crap for heaven.

bigotry is just as strong in the left but its a different type and the bible thumpers are merely a part of the GOP. Most of the GOP I know couldn't care less what the guy's faith is.

ON a related side story-a gay lawyer sued the best law firm in Cincinnat for being denied a partnership. He claimed it was because he put down his boyfriend as his firm supplied insurance as a beneficiary. The firm's official position was that the attorney spent alot of time doing pro bono or working on gay causes to the detriment of billable hours. The firm is the home of the original Senator Taft .

So one day, I ran into a very senior partner at a club and since he was a close friend of my late father, I figured I could get an honest answer from him (by then the lawsuit had been thrown out on a Rule 56 motion). I asked him if the man had been fired for being gay/ The old man looked over his trifocals smiled and said

Son-If that boy was as good a lawyer as all his ACLU friends said he was, he could be having sex with a giraffe in my office chair and I would have made him Partner.

Hardly a bible thumper but a prominent Republican.

Generally vote DEM? Bull....
Wall Street has almost no democrats when it comes time to vote. They know where the lower taxes come from, and it ain't the DEMS.
Wall Street voters are not far right, that term belongs to the sheep that worship at the alter of obscene wealth for the priviledged few, a wealth that they themselves will likely never see. The sheep will vote GOP to save themselves a few hundred dollars without realizing that they save those they worship millions.....
The far right are gullible, being taken for a ride.....

so you voted for Obama instead of the Geezer with the loaded wife?

And should these jobs be taken over by government?

The broker is there to represent a buyer or seller. If a broker achieves a reputation of dishonesty, he won't be in business long.

Politicians. It would be nice if the left ran as the people they are. This is why I respect Kucinich... he's honest about who he is and what he would like to do. He's your typical Democrat with a twist of looney tunes, but I respect him fo his honesty. He's really a lot like Obama without the thuggery, and I don't know if he's a whiner.

As for corrupt politicians; throw them out or vote them out. I support term limits.

Phew man... you really do got a hate on for da money people.
Think of it this way. It's not your business how much someone makes. So why get excited over it?

.

have you checked out the corporate donations to Obama vs McCain

All those Jewish wall street guys are big Republicans?

I don't know your background or where you are from originally but a quarter or so of the people I went to college with and half of my law school class has done time on wall street or mid-town firms and I don't recall a huge number of them being republicans. My law school girlfriend is a top player at Goldman Sucks and she's a dem now but wanted hillary.

Obscene wealth-privileged few

sounds like class warfare

and tell me-given the Clinton-Obama tax hikes start at 200,000 tell me what you consider obscenely wealthy.

Curious. Which particular massive infrastructure rot is Bush responsible for....??

What amazes me is how brainwashed so many people are regarding their believe in how dumb Bush is and yet they voted for Obama. Bush showed what leadership is all about and actually generated positive results whereas Obama supporters are still looking for his stash.

If the government would figure out that government can't create wealth and get out of the way of the private sector, then we can pay this new porkulus package.

Last I remember the private sector collapsed like a souffle and without some government intervention in the economy as a rule we'd be in a great depression.

Obviously, you have zero economic understanding. With the porkulus packages, we still lost $293,000 more jobs. It doesn't take a super educated economist to figure out that Obama's plan hasn't worked.

Lovely, burn the schools then.

The private sector slowed to a crawl, because of government intervention.

Yeah, all someone has to do is explain why the Rapist President campaigned on "infrastructure", and yet suddenly it's "Bush's Fault" all over again.

Yes a decade of deterioration quantumn magically happened since Obama became president. Its HIS fault. Seriosuly.

Lovely, burn the schools then.

No, don't burn the schools. The re-education camps that call themselves universities? Well, that's a different story.

Or so you were told and what exactly did Obama do to save it? Why do you buy what this Administration tells you? I didn't buy it when Bush made the claim because this economy is a private sector economy and would have survived.

Some people would argue the governments interventions in the economy are the results of private interests in the first place.

Bush was prez for an entire decade? What was all that gas tax money being spent on, anyway?

I can believe the 3 trillion dollars, but how did Obama become responsible for the 16 million unemployed?

He took office. Have you not been following along? ;)

My quote applies exactly then. Burn the books too. Seems to be your attitude to things.

I think that's true. Howelse would Obama have been elected, if the economy hadn't gone into the ****ter? How much money to Liberal Democrats have invested in green energy projects? Sounds alot like the Libbo Dems are skewing the market, for their own interests.
