    sorry
I just don't get it, we had a Stimulus Plan passed for shovel ready, infrastructure jobs that was supposed to keep unemployment from exceeding 8% that hasn't done as promised, so now we need another 50 billion for shovel ready infrastructure jobs that will do what the 800+ billion bill didn't do?

There is an old adage fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me and that seems to be what Obama is shooting for. Why does anyone believe a word this President says? Anyone believe this bill will be paid for? By the way where did the TARP bailout payback go?

    From here:

Obama said the proposal would be fully paid for. In an earlier briefing for reporters, administration officials said Obama would pay for the program by asking lawmakers to close tax breaks for oil and gas companies and multinational corporations.

Keynesian economics would suggest that during an economic downturn, it's a good time for the government to borrow the money just like it suggests giving tax breaks to the rich who'll just save the money is a bad idea.

Closing tax breaks? Which breaks are those?

I've mixed emotions about this because Canada is the biggest oil exporter to the United States and this will certainly continue to help our economy. That and refusing to use nuclear, drill more wells, etc. Driving the oil companies out can only help more exploration n Canada.

But, although that money is welcome, it's still not good for the United States. And no matter if he gets that money from 'the rich', or the oil companies, it's still money being spent on more useless projects. The last stim plan worked out to $195,000 for every job created. Can't see any improvement on that this time around.

Repaving roads, which I see all over the country is not adding much value to our infrastructure. The Chinese used part of their stimulus to add 700 miles of high speed rail. Now that helps giving a country a long term economic advantage.

If there was real talk about high speed rail, airports, bridges that need fixing the cost if people will be honest is at least a trillion dollars. The amount Obama is talking about can only generate make work B.S. projects, not real infrastructure investments.

I too thought high speed rail would be a good investment but after reading a couple articles it appears it may not be worth the costs. I noticed though that part of infrastructure was revamping ATC software which was said to be a huge deal and would lessen flight delays. I mean infrastructure isn't just confined to highways and interstates.
I use a lot of satire and sarcasm so keep that in mind when reading my posts.
