For example, Obama said he did not watch any of Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally Saturday on the National Mall.
“It’s not surprising that somebody like a Mr. Beck is able to stir up a certain portion of the country. That's been true throughout our history,” he said. But “what I’m focused on is making sure that the decisions we’re making now are going to be be not good for the nightly news, not good even necessarily for the next election, but are good for the next generation.”
Obama: I

Let them eat, cake.

So you are upset that the man is trying to do his job and what he thinks is best for the country?

So you are upset that the man is trying to do his job and what he thinks is best for the country?

Yeah, that's what it is. You can SOO GET that from my post. I mean "Let, them eat cake" is historically a reference to hating on someone for doing their job. It's not a reference to a Leader that has a tin ear to the people and dismiss them. No no, you so got me nailed bro.

I don't get how the "Let them eat cake" quote is even relevant to what Obama said.

Of course you don't, you're very liberal.

However, I'll spell it out for you:

Obama says he doesn't care what people think about what he's doing, how they feel, what they want. HE knows he's doing best for all of us, and the people's opinion be damned.

You aren't angry because you think he doesn't care about what people think, you're angry that he doesn't care about what BECK and other likeminded individuals think. You're not only under the false impression that the President should be a tuning rod for the American people, swaying with his policies and opinions based on some poll numbers, but you're also only concerned with him listening to your side.

Believe it or not, Beck's opinions are not the people's opinions by a long shot and the President has no obligation to listen to the people's ever changing, easily manipuated opinions. He's elected to do a job, not let a poll number do it for him.

Yes. That's exactly what he's saying when you live in conservative partisan hallucination land.

can i give you one huge thank you?!!!!!!

I never said that. Nor implied such, you did.

Obama says he

He believes that what he is doing is so right, so good, so proper that the opinions of the people, ya know, those voters that get a say, don't matter to him.

I quoted him directly from the transcript which is the linked article. Do try looking again. Use the "find" feature on your browser perhaps?

It's quite clear that he's stating he doesn't care about the next election. That means he doesn't care if the people aren't backing his ideas, his ideas are more important.

If you don't get that... your loss.

A huge portion of this country believes that Obama is doing a good job, which is why I'm saying you only care about the fact that he's not 'listening' to Beck and other likeminded individuals. He cannot listen and follow the opinions of BOTH sides thats impossible, but you think its a crime that he's not a conservative, that he's actually the same person he was when he campaigned. You, and your opinions, do NOT represent the people. So don't pretend that by ignoring a Beck rally that the President is somehow closed his mind to the American people as a whole and not just 'your people.'

sorry, dude, thats pure d inference on your (and any other person that dislikes the man) part.

I hardly think he's doing, "what he thinks is best for the country". If he is, then he's either stupid, or a liar.

So now you want Obama to make decisions based on polls and short-term public opinion rather then what he and his advisers believe is best for the country that voted him to make those decisions?

I don't agree with a lot of Obama's statements and decisions but I do agree no President should make decisions based on what is best for the nightly news or what will get them re-elected. The future generations on this country are top priority for long term decisions.

Of course you think that way. He has a D next to his name. Therefore everything he does is bad for the country. Even when its basically the same thing Republicans have been doing.

Yes, I said that. I said he should be Bill Clinton. Bingo.

I said he doesn't CARE what the voters want cause his EGO says he's smarter, wiser and better then all of us.

Well that's true. Supposedly he knows better than the people of this country. Isn't that what a representative government is all about?

Well, the smart people will put all their trust in him, after all he's won a Nobel Prize for doing nothing.

And really --- the "I will not rest" rhetoric is not just wearing thing.. it's now a joke. He said it about the oil spill - then goes on vacation. He said it about jobs, and goes to play golf. I do think he should stay at the golf course and not return to the White House. We'd all be much better off.

So...he didn't say that and then go take a nap now, did he? I
don't understand you people who can't give our President a break.
I realize he is not being a representative of the people. Have you ever thought that maybe that was the change he was talking about?
There's no reason he should be expected to recognize that 300,000 Americans gathered together on Aug.28. and another gathering of several thousand the same day.
He needn't concern himself with what is going on in the hearts and minds of the American people.
He has a job to do and doesn't need the distraction.

I don't buy that bollocks for a second.

Many Americans are more concerned with Brangelina and the iPhone 4 to actually give a flying **** about any of this crap.

I just don't buy this "America Wants this" and "america wants that"

You do understand that you have like 400 million people right? I'm pretty sure they all don't want the same thing.

LOL!

Are you claiming Obama is planning on being a dictator?

The job of ignoring his future voters --- yes, I agree. That's a full time job in itself.
