Depends on the tax. It is extremely stupid to say that raising/lowering taxes will always bring in more or bring in less

Does **** on a stick always taste good to you?
Looking to get banned I see.

    Yeah, I'll bet you were.
Keep it up. I'd love to see "BANNED" under your name.

Only to people who refuse to educate themselves and carry themselves with extreme arrogance. Lord T demolished Turtle's argument and turtle changed the subject. Do you reject that?

Of course. As you can't debate sensibly, as your name implies, that's your only alternative.

Additional data related to output and employment was not helpful in assessing the macroeconomic impact for the reasons CBO stated. Moreover, CBO has no doubts that the economy would have been worse without the stimulus, as it concluded that the stimulus provided a minimum of a 1.7% boost to real GDP and 0.7 percentage point reduction to the unemployment rate.

    2. CBO's findings are reasonably similar to research that was recently released by economists Alan Blinder and Mark Zandi, who used separate modeling. They found that the fiscal stimulus boosted 2010 real GDP by 3.4% (CBO's estimate: 1.7% to 4.5%), kept the unemployment rate 1.5 percentage points lower (CBO's estimate: 0.7 to 1.8 percentage points lower), and added almost 2.7 million jobs to U.S. payrolls (CBO's estimate: 1.4 million to 3.3 million jobs).

    3. CBO is non-partisan. It responds to requests from Democratic and Republican Members of the House and Senate.
Um, could you repeat that in English for us idiots?

For those who are interested, the full CBO report can be found at:

    http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/117xx/doc...08-24-ARRA.pdf

Note: One may have to cut and paste the CBO's URL in one's address bar in order to access the report.

CBO's estimates of the stimulus plan's effects in 2010 Q2 were:

    - The stimulus raised real GDP by 1.7% to 4.5%
    - The stimulus lowered the unemployment rate by 0.7 percentage points to 1.8 percentage points
    - The stimulus increased the number of employed persons by 1.4 million to 3.3 million
    - The stimulus increased the number of full-time equivalent jobs by 2.0 million to 4.8 million vs. what would otherwise have been the case

In any case, this latest assessment should provide ample ammunition for a continuation of the debate concerning what contribution the economic stimulus made.
Weren't the temporary census workers hired in the 2nd quarter? And, in the 3rd quarter, when unemployment numbers spiked, we were told that the reason was that all the census workers were laid off?

Bottom line is, the US job market lost 293,000 jobs during the Recovery Summer.

Don,t look like these are census jobs to me.Oh, and the graph pretty well says it all doesn't it?

The private sector added 67,000 jobs in August, with some of the strongest gains in health care, food service and temporary help, according to the Labor Department.

The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

So, tell us, how does the addition of 67,000 jobs offset the loss of 293,000 jobs. Cain't wait to hear this.

    Temporary help? Really, man?!?

BTW, be sure and use a back brace, when carrying all that water. Safety first, dude!
