Liam Fox defends call for ban of Medal of Honor game

EA is ****. Who still buys crap from that company anyway

But let the developers do what they wish as long as they obviously meet the standards. People need to quit giving it free publicity. I didn't know about this game until Liam opened his mouth and started whining about it.

Ubisoft is the worst. It's one of those companies that make you ashamed to be British.

Ubisoft is French.
Worse is probably Activision.

I have a lot of companies on my 'never gonna buy a game from' list.

Just so we're clear, I'm not criticizing you for your point of view, but I have to ask why.

MOH has decent gameplay, but they went down a serious WTF road with Airborne. Since when do the Nazis have a huge doom fortress with flakk cannons and elite stormtroopers that HAND WIELD MG42 machine guns?

I'm a Veteran, it's not something that appeals to me. I don't mind fictional "bad guys" or fantastical recreations. Like CC Generals, I was great as the "Chinese" though to be honest, I caused the game to be changed playing as the USA against some of the Developers (I was in the beta and got to know some at the time).

Ah darn! Got me there.

Worse is probably Activision.

Best is probably Bethesda imo (watch you name the company that made WoW now lol).

Hmhmm. Put Russian Stella Star on that list. They made a racing game and accidentally forgot to include collision and gravity. Boy, those kossacks! They probs where drunk when they where developing it.

Tru dat. MoH has never appealed to me. I know the Soviets where bad....so if they released a game when you are a soviet soldier and the whole point is to rape Russian families and kill children and kidnap them then yes, i would count it as rather tasteless. However the depiction of the Soviets in COD 1/2 for example are largely positive due to there actions against Nazi dominance, although as i said, this issue with the Taliban in helmand is an ongoing conflict right now, as we speak. It doesn't create sympathies for the Taliban and there is no evidence to suggest it influences others, however, depicting there struggle in a storyline, if anything, only helps glorifies them. Well put it this way, it doesn't shed a bad light on them.

Playing as a Soviet Soldier in the Great Patriotic War, that's good ****. I forget which game, it's been a while, but there is one where you have an entire Russian Campaign, good stuff.

I prefer Valve, makers of Half-Life :)

For PS3??

I was on, part of the day yesterday, and from 2300 to 0300 playing mag yo. Waiting for word the Beta is up to DL it and play.

Basically Activision is no more.
They've merged with Blizzard, forming Activision-Blizzard.
They don't suck so much IMO, but there are better companies such as Bioware and Eidos Interactive.

Lol, but ofc. Very few can match Blizzard when it comes to PC.
Blizzard is amazing or was before it merged with the blood sucking company that is Activision but so is Nintendo.
Edit: I also forgot Valve.

Don't like racing games unless its Mario o_O

The game's publishers Electronic Arts said the minister had portrayed parts of the game inaccurately.

The government said Dr Fox was expressing a "personal view".

Quiet frankly, i agree with him. EA is playing a dangerous game (excuse the pun).

I see nothing wrong with the game. There are lots of games were you get to play the bad guys. In the grand theft auto franchise the main protagonist is a bad guy.

I understand you have personal feelings involved bro.

But at the end of the day...

"It's just a game".

I don't see this being any more or less shocking then the airport scene from CODMW2

Yeah - it is just a game
What's the difference between being able to play a German killing Americans in Command and Conquer - or Americans killing the Taliban? Games are games. . . people need to keep that always in mind.

I play various racing games like Need for Speed - but do I condone running from the cops in real life? Hell no. I also loved to play the Russians in Command and Conquer - they had the Iron Curtain and Tesla Coils . . . come on, that was some cool ass **** right there.

It's all personal preference. I won't give my $$ to games, movies, books that have content I do not wish to consume. I vote with dollar, the most powerful message I can send.

We play games as a consequence-free way of doing crap that we would never want to do in real life.

How many video games don't involve killing some people/creatures? Not many. I'm willing to bet that a huge reason video games have become so popular (especially among, though not limited to, males) is as a release for our caveman-like urges to fight and kill without facing the consequences that come with this in the real world. Even when you're the good guy (and there are quite a few that let you be the bad guy), you stab and you shoot and you blow **** up. Good or bad, American or Taliban, is not what matters, it's the blowing **** up that matters, because it feels good and because it's just a game.

Games should never be confused with real life. And if they are, it's not the game's fault.

Yeah I more of a bio-wear gamer myself thought Dragon age sucked at the romance ending for the female version of your character. Thought as strategy goes I think that playing as a bad guy will make you see in the other mans eyes for once, since not every one is bad in the army as they are just following there commanders orders. I think playing as the Nazi or a confederate solider like the the History channel Civil war game is cool, since you get to be who you are at your whim. I usually play as an confederate solider since I was born in the south.

So screw you Liam since I can play any game I you don't want too mess with a gamer games.

I love games where you can play the bad guy, because I will *always* play the bad guy if it's available. My biggest complaint with some games is that the "bad guy" route was more difficult and/or impossible to complete (See Baldur's Gate) That was a huge complaint for a lot of players. Since then, game makers have been making the "bad guy" storylines more of a valid option. I see no problem with this and applaud it. Mainly because it's a ****ing game.

It's a video game. There's nothing to fear from a video game if your a sane and rational person. There's no problem with an appropriately rated game from being released regardless of content. Let the buyers and gamers choose what they want to play. Freedom, even for the **** you don't like.

I liked Dragon Age Origins myself, except the ending.
I'm not too sure if it even was an ending, it looked like you have just suddenly jumped into a time machine and showed up at the end of the game.

No one was saying that it shouldn't have been released, simply addressing one's opinion against the content of the specific game.

Freedom of speech, even for the **** you don't like to hear.

Exactly, and I said my peace about it. So shove that in your pipe and smoke it. Watch out for the egg on your face, salmonella you know.

In COD, it is well known you can play terrorists (on multiplayer anyway), but MoH takes it to a new level by introducing a Taliban storyline. But being the free market guy i am, the game developers have a right to publish and create this kind of storyline and game.

.................

Dragon Age origins pissed me off.

Dragon Age was great, except for the million and one times the game stopped so you could have far too long dialogs. I can't get very far in it before the constant stopping for 5 minutes of dialog annoys me too much.
