I didn't go off on a tangent, I just feel that saying, oh look Muslims in Muslims countries support Sharia law we must stop this mosque because of it is not really an argument.

I mean surely that means you should stop ALL mosques?

We have the right to peaceably protests. When protests become violent, or somehow begin to infringe on people's rights, like the black man in the video, I would think otherwise. That was dangerously close to a hate-crime.

It doesn't really matter if he can be "trusted" or not. One does not have to be honest to apply for a building permit. His personal opinions really don't have any bearing on this, and in fact are a simple attempt at diverting the issue at hand, which is the push for discriminatory policies against Muslims.

Sorry Rev, this has long been known to be fake for years. It was a father and son street performer. Hell, even looking at the photos it's painfully (lolpun) obvious that this is fake. Sort of like most of the various justifications for anti-Muslim bigotry that are thrown around here.

He doesn't have to take anyone's feelings into consideration if he doesn't want to. If he wanted he could construct a giant middle finger pointed straight at Ground Zero because property laws aren't based on personal religious/political beliefs, no matter how much you bigots want them to be.

This was in fact one of the main arguments against the direct action implemented by the civil rights activists in the 60's. They were pleaded with by "reasonable" people to "consider the feelings" of the bigots who wanted to keep them in oppression.

While I have plenty of not-so-nice words to spare for America and its laughable "tolerance", I'm more interested in asking whether any of those people realise that "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen is actually a very vehemently anti-American song.

What is LAME is the complete disregard that these supposed "Americans" have for our freedoms and rights.
This isn't about insensitivity. Its about the right-wing seeking to preach their hatred and intolerance...and it is completely reprehensible.

When Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf's book titled "What is right with Islam is whats right with America" was published in 2007 in the muslim world the tittle of his book was called "A call to prayer, from the World Trade Center rubble, Islamic dawah from the heart of America post 9-11"

The more I learn about this guy the more I do not trust him.

Watch this video where Robert Spencer explains exactly what dawah is. Its covered at 2:40 to 4:10 btw the woman in the interview is the wife of a pilot who was one of the 9-11 victims.
